I thought i would start thread of the dogs we like to watch race. Or liked to watch. Many champions are favourites but theres also others that may have been exciting to watch for whatever reason. I wanted to go top 5 but really it has to be 10. Heres Mine
1 Daves Cruiser. Not much to say. I have all bar about 3 wins on video. The marathon win is on youtube but ill put a better copy up soon. 40 lengths last past the 520 boxes and wins by about 12. What a freak.
2 Mystery Idle. The dog that got me interested as an 11 year old. Her Wenty pb was 30.28...... 27 years ago though.
3 Flying Amy. The best of her time. Couldnt watch her race enough.
4 Tornado Tears. His unfortunate form loss and loss of confidence does not tar the dog he was. At his best his run homes matched any of the strongest in training. But the difference was this fella could lead.
5 November Miss. Well what was dapto dogs on a Thursday night without this girl making you throw out your ticket only for her to fly home tracking the outside fence to win in fast time.
6 Irinka Barbie. I love bitch stayers. And leaders are better for your pocket. In her time just dominant. Fast and strong. Just easy to watch. Jumps and runs and makes the next 42 seconds fun.
7 Puzzle Prize. Well if you needed to throw a dog into a multi before they did multis he was it. Vic country cups freak that just broke the hearts of any dog in 5 strides. My opinion the fastest dog over 50m ever.
8 Hay Fergus. Im not kidding i wasnt racing and off the punt when he started off. When i started getting back into dogs i was like who the F is this. Freakish animal.
9 Vintage Blend. Should have won the Sandown cup by 6. But didnt. But what a great bitch to watch. From memory and dont hold me to it Cousin Callum caught her in the pen one day. And that was enough..
10 Queen Lauryn. Since Flying amy there was no other. Then she obloterated the Ipswich Track record. One of the fastest ever
10.1 Tenthill Doll. World beater and freak. The impossible became possible with her. Wenty TR 30.06 to 29.98 to 29.92. Sorry i cant count but couldnt leave this freak out.
I Could pick another 100 close to them. But to me these were not so much the best in my time but the ones i liked the most. I would like to see others opinions or thoughts even overseas. Cheers

Well im still thinking. 11. Pindari Express is just the fairytale dog for his owner. Nothing goes up the home straight at Bulli faster.
12. Tianimitz. Old times. Ron Gill trained freak. Was a stayer that needed to lead but remember the night it jumped last and worked through them all. It only ran about 43.57 from memory but it was some effort. (Questionable times).
13. Rockets Double. Not sure why i liked this dog but his trainer Dave Irwin was the best strike rate trainer at wenty from northern rivers way back in the day. He won me heaps. They would run 4th at tweed heads then bolt in at wenty. A master of the craft.
14. Kalden Mayhem. This dog was a great middle distance and stayer in his time. Many times he was put up at double figures against interstate dogs and held his own.
15. Kalden Aurora. Hes in here because when fixed odds first came in the tab used to put a third or quater price in for a fixed place bet. One night at cannington miata is 1.000001. Its 3rd fave. Me and my mate smashed it at like 50 place. What a night. We made TAB reasses how they do fixed places in the future.
16. Malawi Law. Came into sydney for the egg. Did not disappoint. From memory heat 30.40, semi 30.30 and final 30.20. Seemed to do nothing for a year but won a heat the next year.
17. Keon Star. Hes way up from 17 but you cant think of them all. He won an egg heat at wenty in 30.30 then went to stay. Broke the olympic park track record getting checked. He was better than he was made out.
18. Try Catch Me. This dog Is so underrated. It obliterated the Potts Park record as a pup. Then it smashed it to bits again the next week. Its Oh Mickeys brother. Im not sure why it hasnt shown its best all the time but i seen it destroy them in the maiden final at Potts. Say what you want but i declare this dog a lear jet.
19. Kid Keroma. So its win strike rate was impressive. Its place strike rate was phenomenal. I was one of many that backed it the place in the easter egg final. He used to get back but motor home. From memory until he started getting older he had only missed about 3 placings from 50 odd starts.
20. Blue Sara. Was a box 8 bandit. Wasnt a superstar but if you seen her in the 8 you knew shes gonna run 30.45 odd at Wenty. While it doesnt sound fast the record was 30.13 then. It would win 9/10 races. One of the best bread and butter dogs of the mid 90s.

A few I liked from when I first started following dogs seriously were Amity Bale, it was like she was remote controlled and Did I Entertain, was a great Wentworth Park dog.

Other than watching your own dogs win El Grand Senor has to rate a massive mention as a good dog to watch race.
Between watching El Grand Senor, Kilty Lad, Birthday Boy, Glen Gallon, El Galo and Trew Millions I was hooked

Rapid Journey was incredible. I'll always remember Bevan Williamson saying he was going so fast in his Queensland Cup victory, that he had trouble getting the lure away from him.

Fernando Bale remains my all time favourite. I loved watching Tornado Tears at his peak.

Miata - I could watch her races all day and still find something to admire in the runs.
Other than that Surgeon's Melbourne Cup win still entertains me immensely. :)

I had lots of fun handling Hypo Havoc back in the day & her daughter Bogie Leigh was a champion. Both could really ping the lids & go.

Really like this list.
Graham a Eastender. I was a London Greyhound Track Addict 60s 70s Mon Harringay Tue Romford Wed West Ham or Wembley Thur. Clapton Fri West Ham Sat Hackney White City Never liked Wimbledon its was a hole of a place, unattractive But liked Hackney Wick I saw many great dogs. Sherrys Prince was in another universe. Bookies wouldnt lay odds of less than 1/5 But they would back for a track record or who will run 2nd Dolores Rocket super race bitch I saw her race many times White City, Wembley, West Ham, her rivalry with Supreme Fun was memorable. When I saw Highly Blessed / Brett Lee race I thought I was watching Dolores Rocket again Patricias Hope back to back English Derbys two different trainers. I saw the likes of Camira Story, Tric Trac Spectre Derby Quinella. Super Rory break world record at White City derby heats. I could treble my list for Australia best dogs to watching Dolores Rocket. IMO her litter bro Come on Wonder genes flowed through to Wee Sal, Highly Blessed Yes Graham has many great race dog memories.
