This girl has just won the Bothing Cup at Gawler (paid $12.70 thank you Sportsbet).
And although Bonnie deserves the pats and cuddles, I just want to say a massive congratulations to Bronwyn and Greg Welsh.
Honestly, you will never find a couple who love their dogs and treat them like these people. Their place has to be seen to be believed.
It might only be a $5k race for some but I can tell you, the Welsh's are not in it for the money. They are in it for the love of the breed and that Cup will be sitting on their mantelpiece tonight and Bron won't be able to take her eyes off it.

I'm absolutely thrilled for them.

Thank you Jamie (and Sandro). We just love this quirky little bitch. She was sent off as a first starter to have a go at the big city racing. She won her Maiden at the Meadows. But the bright lights just werent for her. Not so much because of her lack of ability but because she just didnt handle being in a large busy kennel environment. So we brought her home and she is thriving. She has now won over the 400, 500, 600 and 700 metres. I think Sandro commented way back that she may be a distance bitch. Jamie bred her for distance and distance is now what were getting. We got such a thrill winning the Bothing Cup - she came from last to win it which she has done in a few of her races. Shes only 2.5 years of age so hopefully more fun to come. We have had help and advice from some amazing people along the way and none more so than the Quinlivians.

Thanks Sandro - I hope your right. I just hope that we do the best for her. Weve never trained a distance dog and I feel like a total beginner. She won again on Friday over the 643 metres at Gawler. Did her usual last place on the first turn, then threads her way through the field and flies home. She gives me heart failure most races.

She looks like she will appreciate the 680m at Murray Bridge and 730m at Angle Park

Bron, has there been any race where you were totally calm and relaxed?

Hi Sandro - I took your advice and nommed her for a 680 mtr at Murray Bridge but unfortunately not enough distance dogs to make a field. So she drew a run in the 530 mtr which will be a bit short for her but still a good hit out and then maybe a look at the 730 mtr again? Cheers

Hi Bronwyn

That's a shame but you have to keep stayers ticking over to keep their fitness up

It looks a hard 530m the one at Murray Bridge, so it will still be a testing run for her.

Will be watching

Cheers

Great win Bronwyn, 2nd dog was no slouch either, city performed in Victoria and 10w and 16p in 40 starts and a good 650m winner at Shepparton a little while back

She is really solid that little girl and racing with a lot of confidence

Thanks guys. She is definately jumping better but still no brilliant early speed which is what I imagine most true stayers wouldnt have but of course her strength is her run home. Shes definately learning some race savvy. We love her to bits. I think shed make a great brood (but thats divorce talk around here - haha!). Hopefully we can keep her on this trajectory. Cheers

Agree Jamie. She likes the Gawler circuit but its just a bit short (643 mtrs). She showed tonight that shes hunting for more distance. We need to keep her race fit now as we seem to have worked out her little niggly issues. I hope this is her year. Shes not 3 till April. You bred us a lovely bitch Jamie.
