But that's the point - it's not the people who like a punt that want to shut the sport down. They don't like the commercialisation if animals, especially if that means punting on them.

Here, authorities get rewarded for increasing turnover because that increases revenues when then goes back into the sport - which is great - but it means that every possible second is filled with something to bet on. The greyhound share of racing turnover has gone up a lot - around 25% now - but I doubt it's because more people enjoy the sport, it's because we've filled every possible slot with another meeting.

There are many that put hours into doing form, but the vast majority are betting off tipsters, colours, numbers, market moves on wherever and whatever is racing next - you only have to see how much money is bet late to see that.

Michael what I'm saying is the punting shld'nt be their concern, and it's wrong for us in greyhounds to tolerate that(as it makes up almost 90% of income to the industry in Vic for example), and pander to their reasoning as it's illogical. Those animal rights activits are grasping at anything to con the general public and they shld be exposed for it everyday of the week.

Everyday that goes by more people are wising up and to me they now look like they(animal rights activists), are clutching at straws.

Every individual has a right to decide if they want to bet or not on whatever medium they choose to. That's everyones democratic right. Gambling is gambling whether it be on horses and dogs, casino games or general sports. It shdn't be associated with just dogs or horses.

If you're doubting more people enjoy the sport, they are. The reasons being how you guys promoted Group racing and events like the Speed Star. The TAB have actually changed their webpages to be more accomodating to Speed Star betting and that's a credit to you as people want to know who the best dog is, who the fastest dog is etc. That's what dog racing is and always has been about, remembering you don't get to have the best or fastest dog if they aren't treated like the elite athletes they are.

The people who aren't interested in it and don't want to be will never be convinced. We as a society need to stop pandering to these killjoys.

The main reason people bet late is because that's when the best prices are usually offered especially on mediums such as betfair unless of course one has been heavily tried. Much of it is also corporates laying off.

On the news today that public Drunkenness will be decriminalised in Victoria from ironically Melbourne Cup day.

More women and children may be bashed as a result but hey lets make sure as few people gamble on animals as possible as that's more important.

This current Labour Coalition that governs Victoria are THE most illogical, divisive and incompetant bunch of people the Victorian public could have ever elected and they got a second term in office.

What does that say about Victorians ? It's embarrassing what this once great state is being reduced to under this Labour State Gov't.

It's good news week
Someone's dropped a bomb somewhere
Contaminating atmosphere
And blackening the sky
It's good news week
Someone's found a way to give
The rotting dead a will to live
Go on and never die
Have you heard the news
What did it say?
Who's won that race?
What's the weather like today?
It's good news week
Families shake the need for gold
By stimulating birth control
We're wanting less to eat
It's good news week
Doctors finding many ways
Of wrapping brains on metal trays
To keep us from the heat

No none of the above

Andrews has made the majority of Victorians happier than they have been in a long time..
