With the decision made regarding Cranbourne, are we going to see another track built in Victoria?

Well, here's just an thought that would work and work very well.

A straight track located in Avoca at the backside of the racecourse.

90 minutes form Horsham.
130 minutes from Warrnambool.
50 minutes from Ballarat.
120 minutes from Geelong.

Opens up the possibility of straight track racing for the whole West of the state who find Healesville such an arduous trip. Avoca is a popular quality wine area/day trip from Melbourne.
The back straight area of the Council owned racecourse has 500m to work with.
I know Cranbourne people want Cranbourne back, just like Wangaratta people want Wangaratta back. There was talk about putting a straight track at Horsham but I think Avoca is the location.

Just putting that out there.

A straight track or at least a 300-350m option is needed in western Vic. Nowhere to take a 300-350m dog apart from Healesville (300,350) or Traralgon (350) or send them interstate. More options needed to keep dogs racing and not sitting in kennels or adding to the never ending GAP backlog. Need to accommodate all abilities to keep the industry viable at all levels.

Perhaps a 330m on the inside track at Geelong?

Not a good outcome, too many injuries in those short races on a bend

Straight track with a drag lure a better option

A straight track would be the ultimate but location is the question. A single turn track at Wangaratta seems feasible but the bend radius is tight and not ideal. Building a combined coursing track and a companion straight track is an idea perhaps?

After watching Richmond today, I'd say leave it on the arm.
