Can some one clarify, is the admin in Qld a sole greyhound board or are they a subsection of "Racing". If so a simple segregation may be needed such that the focus can be simply on on industry and its concerns not the broader picture.
Since its inception Racing Qld has been a diabolical failure for the Qld greyhound industry. This Industry Advisory Group (reps from the Brisbane Club, the Ipswich Club and the GBOTA )are a waste of time UNLESS they make the future of the Qld greyhound industry their priority,Dixon,Condon and Animals Liberation Qld have combined brilliantly to degrade the IMAGE of the Qld greyhound industry with help from a VERY small fraction of a percent of industry participants.Ending Racing Qlds dictatorship must be the advisory groups priority.Surely with Michael Byrnes legal knowledge extricating the greyhound industry from Racing Qld shouldn't be too hard,(the LNPs witch hunt enquiry exposed ample discrimination of the Qld greyhound industry).Qld greyhound stakeholders are desperate to control their OWN destiny and this Advisory Group are USELESS unless they put stakeholders and our greyhounds interests first and formost.

Kev, we were out for dinner with friends last night, and at one stage it got quite heated.
Obviously the greyhounds came up, they accept that a minority were involved, but they were surprised that those participants initially stood down, who weren't participating in the live baiting, only received 4 weeks. They argued that they were no better than the antis because they also stood by and never reported what was going on.
The greater community isn't going to continue to accept the double standards, the sport has clear rules in place for these things, and participants as well as RQL have the duty of care to enforce them.
While I don't agree with what my friends are saying, we need to ensure moving forward that we self regulate as participants. And those thinking things will blow over, need to have a good look at themselves.
So if you saw a trial track advertised in the Chase magazine would you not assume that it was registered. There are 500 hours of vision that was looked at. If you took your dogs to trial there and you were filmed doing nothing more than trialling your dog, how long would you expect to get suspended for.

The Industry is losing prize money etc to help pay for the recovery of what's happened but I'm telling you if the people don't start being more realistic about the stupid prices they ask for pups and racing dogs that will kill the industry. I mean most of them are just battling hobby trainers who will never be able to invest. You pay high prices for pups and now also from 50 a week to rear... Un stainable these days in this industry.

How long should the kennel inspectors get for not knowing the track being used by so many Greyhound people to trial dogs on was not registered?
Has a breeder, I must comment on your shot at the cost of pups.
The cost of pups starts with the cost of straws from stud dogs. While that expense must be paid, then you have the implant cost by a vet, then a C-SECTION & Travel costs.
Then you have two lots of vaccinations, ear branding, Micro-chipping, Food & Cleaning costs for the whole litter.
A sale price of $2,000 for a well bred & cared for puppy allows the breeder to recoup costs & to Re-invest to breed BETTER pups going forward.
So don`t knock the breeder, We are part of chain. One part. We care for the new borns & clean them up.
Elsie...

As stated previously on another thread. Unhappy with prices, breed your own. Cheers.

Before you get your license you have to read the rules of racing in Qld. It says you cannot trial on an unregistered trial track.
It's irrelevant whether they advertise or not. When we started training, one of the tracks that was advertised as a registered track on the old Qld Greyhounds website was Postmans Ridge. They continue to advertise, yet somehow during the change over to RQL they lost the paperwork, even though they have been registered for years.
Now you can't trial your dog there until they go through the process of having it registered again, even though RQL are the ones who made the mistake. Apparently, John Collins also has to attend break in training to get his license as well.
It's like telling Santa Claus your going to teach him how to drive a sleigh!
PS As I stated, my friends couldn't give two hoots if trainers were trialling on unregistered tracks, they do have a problem that those people probably witnessed what was viewed on the 4 Corners program, and didn't report it.
While I don't agree with them, I like to think my friends are representative of the greater public, and we as an industry need to self regulate moving forward.

They should not only have a problem with the half a dozen trainers who were given the suspension for being at that venue when the police arrived, but dozens more at other times and add to that non-training owners who go along for a look and then there are activities at other venues too. It all starts to make that less than 1% of participants mentioned numerous times in this thread seem of little consequence. Then there would be hundreds more in the industry and others who may not have actually seen 'blooding' but would have knowledge of it. Didn't report it? Most people in the industry would not have the same access to high tech. equipment nor the expertise or even contacts in the media as do ALQ. So it was left to the experts to come up with the expos.

Jack, people can blame greyhound participants for the current crisis. But more importantly isn't it the culture and the climate that was allowed to exist unchecked within the industry which has ultimately led to the current problems?
Two different RQL Boards, and previously Qld Greyhounds have done nothing to improve the integrity of the sport, through legislation or investigation. There has been no leadership for a very long time. Who is to blame?
Politicians are to blame, successive State Gov'ts and those they have appointed with no vision or direction for the sport. What have they come up with recently about 5 different changes to the grading, and increased prize money.
The writing has been on the wall for a while, their a few in the industry who are currently saying I told you so, because they wrote white papers highlighting the very concerns that we as an industry are caught up in today.
No one has cared about the greyhound industry, they syphon of the very money to the other two codes that could very well go into integrity, welfare, adoption, education etc, but they leave the industry with just enough to make it viable.
Again, who has created the environment?

I would have thought it would have been an hour or two before the first race on Sunday afternoon? Seems strange to have it in the morning?

This from Racehorse Talk. Our horse friends accurately reading the current situation say..............
"I agree with Norton that anyone involved in greyhounds and has any ideas should have sent their submission in by the 30th March which was the closing date....all anyone can do is to make suggestions for Mr MacSporran QC to consider......it's his job to sort the wheat from the chaff and present a report to the minister..as an observer I think the greyhound industry is the most tightly regulated of the three racing codes...had the rules been enforced there wouldn't be this $3M review into what went wrong....so I've already had my say. Giddy Up. bop "

Qld stakeholders prime concern is to withdraw from Racing Qld and regain our identity and independence.reverting back to Greyhounds Qld would stop the Racing Qld rip off and all prizemoney currently deducted would be accounted for by our industry, not thoroughbred dictators.and we could demand our true market share.JMO.
