What has Cosmic Rumble done to deserve a spot in front of the defending champ Mantra Lad?

BIG JOKE!!!

I hope the Queen beats that hunk of junk by 20 lengths.

The dog game is for the dogs.

In fact I'm suprised that they even had the brain power to put the Queen in the feild.

If Mantra was in the race it would have been the rematch from last year that was such a great race.

Good work again by the dumb ass that put that together.

JOKE, JOKE, JOKE!!!!!!!!!

Disagree guys, its only a 4 dog race . Glad Cosmic Rumble is in he is a freak with a 29.58 sandown win and 29.64 wenty win in the last 6 weeks. Hunk of junk what an insult Ray, Its a thankless job and the idea is to pick the best dogs for a 4 field race, We are never ever going to all agree. Lets just enjoy it.

Fancy Mandy ran a 29.63 at Wenty the other week and I bet she wasn't considered.

The "rematch" theme would have been fantastic for promoting the event.

Birthday Boy obviously didn't get to use his reserve priority from last year!!

Field is pretty much as I predicted - Cosmic Rumble for whatever reason gets in to everything - I understand his selection in this more than I do the Topgun as its a small field and he's a time trial specialist who doesn't like full or competitive fields but it's def. open to debate - yet again!

Starting to get an exceptional record in invitation only races for a greyhound that is yet to even ever place in a group race !!! - I give up - I knew they'd put him in but damned I know how you justify it against dogs that have not only run places in group races but won the flaming things as well!!!!

I'm not saying who should be in or out but don't the four dogs chosen have the fastest times around Sandown? (QL - 29.42, V - 29.54, CR - 29.58, TB - 29.65)
Do they just simply choose the fastest four, perhaps? (If that's the case, I guess that is understandable?)

Not quite, Donna. Birthday Boy has ran 29.64 and Vintage Octane has ran 29.58.

for what my opinion is worth? i reckon its a stupid race.
where else in the world? do we have a four dog race?
it was bad enough over the past weeks with the topgun shamozzle, now they reduce it to 4 dogs, so its obvious other well credentialed dogs will miss.
we either race a race like we do every other day of the week, or get it down to a 2 dog match race...they did it years ago, but then we will have the same problem.
its a money making exercise and i dont like it or its concept.
BUT....if i had one good enough, i just might change my mind....said i might.
and if the rumour mill is correct(is it ever) then one trainer is lucky he has any in for the $500 slap on the wrist he just got....or is it just a rumour?????
i think this time though, queen lauryn, as good or great as she is, has the chance to now rectify??? the wrongdoing of her recently by whipping them good.

I agree with most, u simply can't have Cosmic Rumble in this field....he's run some fast time on occassion while he's done plenty wrong in many of his races, even against he's own age group...I looked at it again and again, how does Mantra Lad not get the call...
Its a joke and if I was connected with Mantra Lad, I wouldn't be backward in expressing publically my view, on what a joke, this piss-poor selection process is.....

cheers

I reckon the selectors got it right this time - LOL
Cosmic Rumble has earned his place with recent fast performances (including the Bill Collins Memorial at Sandown beating Queen Lauryn, Velocette, Dyna Lachlan and Trew Millions in 29.58 - how could you leave him out!) - and the fact that the 4 dog field should allow him to show his best.

Troy it's a JOKE mate, as the other posts have said why not put in Fancy Mandy or Vintage Octane???

Mantra Lad should be in that race end of story.

No one wants to see Cosmic Juhnk win that race, he has to earn his stripes first and running fast time is NOT the only making of a great greyhound. Mantra is a much better greyhound and he won the God dam race last year what more can you ask for???

Big misstake to not match him up against the Queen for a rematch!!

Firstly Fancy Mandy wasn't nominated, u must nominate to be considered, secondly Mantra Lad's last sprint win(metro) came at Cannington in March, it may have been in 29.95, however it was 8 months ago. Since returning from a spell, he has won a mixed at Bendigo over 545m, with the only worthy opponent being Punk Platinum, and then he got beaten by Spader at Cranbourne who is currently in the centrlink que picking up his pension cheque.

Cosmic Rumble has a recent 29.58 Sandown Park win to his name and in that race was Queen Lauryn and Velocette, so he is a worthy starter in my opinion, however its only an opinion.

Bradley

That would be one of the few wins he had of late, so he's form is very thread-bare, to say the least....so, it only takes one minor race for u to justify he's selection? ...to be honest, Mantra Lad would Comic Rumble wind-burn and then some....

Last four runs.....

I think Cosmic would take it right up to Mantra one out, pretty sure there was a 29.64 Wpk win a couple starts prior, so two blistering metro wins in the past two months, Mantra Lad has no present sprinting form so he shouldnt get a run ahead of Cosmic, I know injuries have played a major role, however in a shootout u want dogs that are in form.

Hang on!!! Isn't he the defending Shoot Out champion and shouldn't champions be given the right to defend their title if they are fit and in form?
