John Coleman-Martin Whites Statement:

At the public meeting at East Midland Hotel in September we were tasked with assessing the feasability and practicalities of forming a new all embracing association for greyhound practitioners.

Its fair to say that there has been some delay on our part in getting the ball rolling. This was due to personal and business committments.

We are now actively working on creating a proposed structure that we can bring back to the table. This a work in progress that we are determined to carry out as thoroughly as we possibly can.

We are mindful of our responsibility to the meeting to come up with a proposal that is well researched and above all viable. We are both also agreed on the need for transparency and accountability in our work.

We have made some progress and think that now is an opportune time to inform people of (a)what we have done to date, (b) what are the immediate next steps, and (c) the kind of structure that we envisage will best serve ALL greyhound practitioners and add value to the industry.

We have therefore arranged to hold 3 meetings as soon as possible for the purpose of bringing everyone up to date and getting feedback.

The first meeting will be held on Thursday next 12th at Coventry Greyhound Stadium at 7pm.

The second meeting will take place in the London area at a venue to be announced on Tuesday 17th Nov.

The third meeting will take place at Doncaster Greyhound Stadium on Thursday 19th Nov at 7pm.

We are extremely grateful to the management and staff of Coventry and Doncaster, both of whom unhesitatingly agreed to offer their facilities.

We have chosen to hold 3 meetings to allow us to reach as many people as possible. It is not possible to go to every part of the country but we would urge as many as possible to attend at the venue closest to them, listen to what we have to say, give us your feedback and let's continue to move on.

Gary,
you are absolutely right; the sport has been in habitual decline for thirty years its now time to make a stand we have to make our voice heard. We are the biggest stakeholders in the industry and we have never been united; split by personalities and sectional interest. Its crucial that owners and trainers get to these meetings. John and I have firm proposals and a clear view of how to go forward. But we need feedback and support.
