UNBELIEVABLE EFFORT IN 770 REDO FINAL I AT BEST BET JACKSONVILLE
Monday, May 2, 2016

Final One of the 2016 770 redo race took place on Saturday evening in the 11th race on the card and was considered by many as an instant classic. Sure there was a talented field, all 8 greyhounds finished at least 4th in their qualifying race, but I dont think that anyone was prepared for just how this race would end up at the finish line. When the smoke cleared, the top 4 greyhounds were all within 2 lengths at the wire and it would take a photo finish to separate them and determine a winner.

As the lure plowed through the escape turn and the 770 box popped open, it was Shutthefrontdoor and Wws Black Foot that vied for early control. Both greyhounds came to run and flashed their early speed as they set the pace up the backstretch. By the time that they reached the far turn the first time around, Shutthefrontdoor had taken over command of the race. Stealing away at least 2 lengths on the rest of the field, she was in the drivers seat as they headed up the frontside. Not far off was Pat C Andre followed by the early threat Wws Black Foot, Ruler Of Love, Making A Splash, Darx Ida Da Moon, Raiders Bacardi, and Herstal. On she continued on the front end, but the rest of the field was making up ground, and by the escape turn the complexity of this race was going to change. Pat C Andre has narrowed the gap and was dueling with the leader for control as the rest of the chasers were starting their closing runs. Down the backside they went for the second time and now we had a new leader. Pat C Andre had seized control of the race, but following closely in tow was Shutthefrontdoor, Wws Black Foot and Ruler Of Love. Raiders Bacardi was also starting to get revved up and by the far turn it got even tighter and more competitive. Still clinging to a 2 length margin. Pat C Andre pressed the pace, and the lead, around the far turn and down the stretch. But this race was far from over. Everyone started to find another gear as they turned for home and the greyhound that was last early, Raiders Bacardi was not in third and looked to be on a mission. On they continued up the stretch and the leader was hearing footsteps late and was feeling the pressure. Gone was his 2 length margin as he was just a length clear of the resurging Shutthefrontdoor, and the absolutely flying finisher Raiders Bacardi, and was struggling to hold on and try and win this final. As this trio inched closer to the wire, it was anyones game. Pat C Andre was fading, Shutthefrontdoor was coming again on the rail, and Raiders Bacardi was running on rocket fuel on the outside. All three giving their all, all three pushing their boundaries, all three digging in deep, but only one was going to come out on top. With one final push Shutthefrontdoor got by the leader on the rail to look to have secured the win, but Raiders Bacardi was not going to be denied in this effort. Bursting by outside, he outfinished his competitors and took home the top spot in the photo at the wire. Settling for a game second was Shutthefrontdoor who really ran a huge race and deserved a better outcome. Pat C Andre was a game third just a length off at the finish line and the solid trying Wws Black Foot rounded out the superfecta selections. Completing the field was Herstal in 5th, Making A Splash in 6th, Darx Ida da Moon in 7th, and Ruler Of Love in last.

Congratulations head out of the best of the best marathoner on this occasion, Raiders Bacardi. Kudos to trainer Tom Artzer, Owner Ann Occhino, the J & J Calabro Kennel, and everyone else connected with this fantastic greyhound.

Now for the real question. Can he do it back to back weeks? Remember that this is a redo race and we will run the same greyhounds back from the same post positions next Saturday evening. Miss on your wager this time, get a mulligan on Saturday evening. Make sure to join us here for Final 2 of the 770 Redo Race on Saturday evening May 7th at bestbet Jacksonville.

LONGSHOT FLYING RUSSIAN USES HIS RUSHIN SKILLS TO WIN PALM BEACH KENNEL CLUB $20,000 BOB BALFE PUPPY STAKES CHAMPIONSHIP!
Wednesday, May 4, 2016
West Palm Beach, Fl. Rader Racing Kennels Flying Russian shocked racing fans as he scored a stunning victory in the 50th Anniversary running of Palm Beach Kennel Clubs $20,000 Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes, Saturday afternoon, April 30.

In the finale, the break and the rush to the first turn was the key.

Taking advantage of co-finalist JS Insta Gator going to the inside on the break, tying up the progress of the Greyhounds to her immediate left, left a lot of racing room for Flying Russian to do what he does best, make a bee line to the first turn and emerge on the backstretch with the lead.

Adding to the outcome of the championship final, was a traffic jam at the first turn involving some of the race favorites.

On the backstretch, moving forward to the finish line, the only question was could Gator catch the Mad Rushin Russian.

With only a few feet of track left, it was clear that Flying Russian had enough gas in the tank to hold off JS Insta Gator and win the $20,000 Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes championship by a mere half length.

Flying Russian traversed the 545-Yard Royal Palm Course in a speedy 29.46 seconds, a new Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes race time, and returned a whopping $30.00 for a $2-win ticket.

JS Insta Gator, Sentinel and Blu Too Tarmac finished second, third and fourth, respectively.

Flying Russian earned a cool $10,000 for his Bob Balfe championship victory.

The win in the Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes gave Rader Racing Kennel a clean sweep of the tracks three seasonal Puppy championships.

The complete order of finish:

1st 8. Flying Russian (BDs Grayson Flying Rushin By, Rader Racing Kennel)
2nd 7. JS Insta Gator (Pat C Clement JS Victorious, Koppe, Staats & Collins)
3rd 3. Sentinel (Barcelona Boss My Heroine, Ryan Racing Kennel)
4th 6. Blu Too Tarmac (SH Avatar Gable Go Shaunee, Blu Too Kennel)
5th 4. SEs Cool Kate (Flying Coal City As She Is Basra, Rader Racing)
6th 2. Kinda Cruel Red (Bella Infrared Cruel To Be Kind, Janie Carroll Kennel)
7th 1. Min Lee (SH Avatar Party Hardy, Rader Racing)
8th - 5. Atascocita Nate (Coldwater Konow Atascocita Ester, Suncoast Kennel)

The Puppy Stakes is named in honor of former Palm Beach Post Time sports columnist and great friend to Greyhound racing, Bob Balfe.

GREYHOUND NEWS
Back to News IGP (DUBUQUE) READIES FOR SEASON
Monday, May 9, 2016
DUBUQUE, Iowa Mark Saturday, May 14, on your calendar. Thats the opening date, 1 p.m. post time, for the 2016 Iowa Greyhound Park season.

This should be quite a season at IGP.

With Bluffs Run closing, pointed out Mike Jackson of Jackson Greyhounds, LLC, it makes more of a guessing game out of everything.

All of the 10 kennels will have a full compliment of 56 greyhounds on hand when action begins for real.

Heres a quick look at each kennel with some greyhounds to watch in the early going.
The newcomer to the kennel lineup T and T Kennel, Inc. has Andy Owen as the trainer. It has a nice litter out of Iruska All-Star Gable Karen. Two of the pups, XTs War Games and XTs War Bucks (twice) won early schooling races. ATs Frednbarney, who also won an early schooling race, is worth watching.

The Clayton Black Kennel has Brett Entas as the trainer. In the kennel is a big litter, about 10, of pups with names starting with Go Lucky. Go Luck Tango and Go Lucky Danny won their schooling races. Jason Sartoris litter shows promise. Monkey Way had a second in her schooling.

At the Xtrem Hess Racing LLC, Brad Hess will be the trainer.

DS Rumba is the anchor. He ran in Grade A at Bluffs Run and won a stakes race at Naples. XTs War Bucks has been impressive, winning both of his early schooling races. Overall, suggest the folks at Xtreme, there is the makings of a pretty good kennel.
At David Ungs Copper Kettle Kennel there is disappointment as Wild Bill Reeves, the IGPs 2015 Greyhound of the Year, suffered a career ending injury. A promising pup also went down, Ungs reported. Mark Dunnuck is the trainer.

Coming up is Joe Reckers Joeslittlepebble, who won her schooling race. Also coming up is a nice collection of pups from Florida.

Jackson Greyhounds, LLC, will be anchored by a couple of 2015 stars from the Iowa Greyhound Park. AJs Callie won the Iowa Breeders Cup and Slatex Elvis won on the final day of the 2015 season to capture the track win title.

One pup to keep an eye on is Jahas Tornado. John Shaver is the trainer.
In the Pat Collins & Melissa Schmidt Kennel, there is a youth movement going on/ Collins is bringing in 21 pups and Schmidt 15 with more on the way. One pup of note, Joe Caputo, out of Amf Ex President Flying Bassey, won his early schooling race.
Bassey, noted Schmidt, has had some standout pups.
Jessica Hughes is the trainer.

Stidham Racing, LLC, is bringing in greyhounds from almost all over. JD Bombshell ran at Buffs Run; JD Dignity comes up from Florida; JD Independence (he was named that, explained Jon Stidham, because he was born on July 4.) was a stakes winner at Wheeling, West Va. and JD Tight Fit is also coming over from West Virginia.
Alicia Bushey is the trainer.

The reigning track champion, Superior Kennel, has a pair of littler mates, Hilco Magnum and Hilco Sonic, which show promise. Another greyhound of note is Superior Crush. Jerry Cole, the 2015 Trainer of the Year, returns to handle the kennel.

At the Boeckenstedt Kennel, Phil Stapleton who handled the Boeckenstedt Kennel at Bluffs Run and earned Trainer of the Year honors, moves over to take up the chores at IGP.

Overall, the kennel is balance with lots of pups. One litter out of Bluffs Run Hall of Famer KC And All Bocs Snow Queen, a litter of all females, shows promise. Out of that litter Bocs Queen Faye Diva, Bocs Queen and Bocs Queen Gina won early schooling races.
The Wayne R. Ward, Inc. Kennel has Jeff Wilcox has its trainer. On one of the busy early schooling days O Ya Jiffy, O Ya Can U C and Classy Memphis won races while the kennel saw two greyhounds finish second and six greyhounds finish third.
The IGA Inaugural Stakes will highlight the opening day card. On Sunday, May 15, the card will be spiced by the Maiden Debut Stakes. Post time

Decoupling and how it affects greyhound racing in the USA

Decoupling is the Zombie of legislative chicanery. Thanks to the despicable mainstream media, there are still thousands of people who don't quite understand what is meant by "decoupling". Hopefully, this 2014 piece will help explain it all. It is another in a long list of money grabs, brought to you by your impeccable public servants, and the vampires of corporate weaselry and excess.
Decoupling Temporarily Uncoupled
Nothing epitomizes the clich greedy, evil corporation like some of these casino interests who have been lobbying to end greyhound racing in Florida.
Years ago, when greyhound racetrack management and ownership became alarmed at the emergence of tribally owned casinos, and the effect that these casinos would have upon their bottom line in competing for the wagering dollars of Florida residents and tourists, they came up with a brilliant plan.
They managed, when was all said and done, to fast-track casino style wagering to their already existing greyhound racing facilities, with wink and a nod, and a little political prestidigitation, by circumventing the usual democratic, political balloting and licensing process.
The key for them to achieve this new status as casinos, along with the usual political flim-flammery and shuckin and jivin, was to convince the people whom they had contracted to race greyhounds at their facilities, that the introduction of casino-style wagering would not diminish, but would benefit their greyhound racing businesses. Those greyhound businesses had, of course, built and enriched the racetracks, and contributed untold billions to Floridas economy and tax revenues.
So a deal was struck. Inasmuch as it was predictable that wagering on the greyhound races would take a huge hit once slot machines and card games were brought into the mix at greyhound tracks, it was agreed upon by all parties that the greyhound kennels would receive a share of the casino/card game profits for allowing the racetracks the opportunity to reap such a pregnant harvest. That, of course, was to come in lieu of those inevitable lost gambling revenues on the races, from which the purses that greyhounds race for are derived, and which were the only source of income for the greyhound kennels.
The state declared that this arrangement was satisfactory, but that in order to be granted a sanction for conducting casino style gambling on premises, the tracks must also continue to conduct live greyhound racing performances, which is what they are licensed to do, and why they exist in the first place.
So everyone was happy, in agreement, and no one forced anyone to do anything against their will. Everyone was making money, everyone was flush.
Then, the greedy corporations became even more greedy. Having become enamored of their easy, casino-style windfall profits, they wanted even more. Some racetrack/casino owners began to complain that greyhound racing was no longer a viable performance attraction, as interest and revenues had waned dramatically---as if this had not been predictable, and as if their own lack of greyhound racing promotion and in some cases, deliberate disregard/contempt of their greyhound-wagering patrons, had nothing at all to do with declining greyhound racing revenues.
Then, they began, along with their political allies, to refer to the revenue sharing agreement they themselves had proposed to the greyhound kennels, and which they themselves had enthusiastically agreed to, as a subsidy--costing Floridas taxpayers millions--as if this subsidy would otherwise go toward tax revenues and not into their own pockets, and as if it were an out-of-pocket expense to the Florida taxpayer. They were joined in this deception by the extremist, animal rights lobbyists, as well as the ever-compliant and morbidly slothful, mainstream media.
Their clarion call became Decoupling, which is the nice way of saying we want to weasel out of the revenue-sharing deal we made with the greyhound kennels, and no longer wish to be required to conduct live greyhound racing, even though the entire business model, as it is now, was our idea, and has enriched us beyond imagination.
Yesterday, decoupling was temporarily placed on the trash heap by the Florida legislature.
Instead, it appears that Florida greyhound track veterinarians and licensed greyhound trainers will, sometime in the near future, be required to report injuries to racing greyhounds, as a matter of gaming commission rule.
Hopefully, this new approach and mandate will result in encouraging racetrack/casino management to do a much better job than they have in the recent past, at taking care of and improving their racetrack surfaces, and safeguarding their electronic lure systems, so that they present no shock hazard to the greyhounds or to the racetrack personnel. This is the 21st century. It's long past time that American racetracks began to avail themselves of 21st century technologies, in the preparation and maintenance of their racing surfaces.
They will have to be watched and regulated closely by the authorities, as any legislation of this type can be easily used to their advantage. The conflict of interest here is odious. Greyhound racing venues, which stand to benefit from decoupling, have seemingly little incentive to protect the greyhounds, or to insure their safety. In this case, the sort of bad press that injured greyhounds provide, can only help them to eventually realize their goal of decoupling.
The Florida Greyhound Association, for their part, must input this new legislation so that the injury reports include not only acknowledgment by the racetrack maintenance directors, but also include the outcome of any and all injures, so they cannot be used, non-contextually, to displace greyhounds and to destroy greyhound racings small, family businesses, by fanatical, anti-racing, hate-mongering extremists, and the poor, gullible, low-information souls they appeal to for financial support.

GREYHOUND NEWS
Back to News THIS ONE IS FOR DAD
Friday, May 13, 2016
Director of Racing Les Robison presents Derby Lane Gold Trophy to the Cal Holland Kennel team.Thirteen days after attending a memorial service for his father, Justin Holland paid tribute to him in a most fitting way with a stakes win at Derby Lane in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The win by 9-1 shot Somerset Roy in the $20,000 Gold Trophy Juvenile Stakes on May 7 came as somewhat of a surprise in a race that included his standout littermate and 8-5 race favorite Kentucky Warren (fourth), and DArcy kennels Distance Classic winner O Ya Cruiser Max (third).

Somerset Roy was the final greyhound to make the puppy stakes field with a victory at 14-1 odds in his last qualifier, snapping an eight-race losing streak. Then one day after his second birthday, the male out of a litter by Pat C Clement and Kentucky Jude enjoyed a perfect rail trip in the 550-yard finale from the No. 1 post. After trailing pacesetters Yolo Swag of Alderson kennel (second) and Kentucky Warren, he charged to the lead on the final turn and won by three lengths in 30.59 seconds, the second fastest clocking in Somerset Roys 46-race career. He earned $9,000 in his first stakes race for breeders and owners Don and Helen Godby of Eaton, Colo.

But the night belonged to Holland, a fifth-generation greyhound man whose father, Cal Holland Jr., 50, died on April 4. At his memorial service in St. Petersburg, Justin Holland vowed to make his dad proud.

In my speech at the memorial, I hoped to build the legacy that (my father) had, he said. In any stake race, you get a little bit of legacy behind you. So it helps out.

Holland, 28, a native of Ocala, Fla., is the manager and trainer for the operation of his grandfather, Cal Holland, president of the Tampa Bay Greyhound Association.
The victory evoked family memories from 2012, when Cal Holland Jr. won the St. Petersburg Consolation Derby with Art Allen 18 days after his mother, Brenda Holland, had died. He paid tribute to her with everyone in the winners circle shouting Brenda Holland in unison.

This is quite special because it goes back to what my dad did for my grandma (winning) the first stakes race after she passed, Justin Holland said. It was reminiscent of that with everything thats happened. It just makes me so happy inside that he honored my grandmother that way, and I can honor him this way.

Derek Barsell, a trainer for Floyd kennel, said Holland was a deserving winner.
Every time I get to the stake final, I want to see Justin win it if I cant, Barsell said. He works hard at running his grandfathers kennel. With everything that hes been through lately, this is a nice little cherry on the cake for him.

Brandy Glaspey, Justins fiance, had tears streaming down as he was being congratulated by rival kennel owners.

It shows that his dad is still there with his hand on his shoulder, saying, Thats my boy, she said.

Back to News DOING THE RUMBA AT DUBUQUE
Tuesday, May 17, 2016
DUBUQUE, Iowa DS Rumba put the exclamation mark on opening day, Saturday, May 14, at the Iowa Greyhound Park by claiming the Inaugural Stakes with a gritty effort.
The performance came before a full grandstand, said IGP General Manager Brian Carpenter. We are very happy with turnout and very happy with the results.

The patrons were active participants while enjoying the 15-race card.

Our handle, on and off-track, totaled $77,399.50, reported Director of Mutuels Jean Hallahan. Thats 75 percent better than last year. Our crowd was very good.

The amount is indeed impressive. Talking late in the performance, the figure of $70,000 was tossed out and dismissed as too hopeful to be reached.

Among the happy folks was Xtrem Hess Racing trainer Brad Hess as he and his folks got to poise with DS Rumba for the trophy picture.

I was delighted, said Hess, he got the one box on the draw, but, really so long as he can get a good break he can come.

The veteran in the field, DS Rumba, a 67-pounder born Nov. 23, 2012 out of Djays Octane DS Babe, knows how to run in good company. He was a Grade A racer at Bluffs Run. This winter at Naples, Fla., he won a $20,000 stakes and was a finalist in a 3-8 mile stakes.

In the Inaugural, DS Rumba broke second behind Superior Rawlins (Superior Kennel).
Rounding the first turn, DS Rumba kept to the rail and took the lead. Heading into the backstretch, Rumba maintained the lead while the challenger became JD Dignity (Stidham Racing, L.L.C.).

The pair had distance from the rest of the field and as the duo reached the far turn it was Dignity, working the outside, which pushed ahead for a head.
I felt it was up for grabs, said Hess. The rail had not been good and I felt for a moment he was beaten.

Entering the top of the homestretch, JD Dignity swung a bit wide. It gave DS Rumba a touch more running room and the veteran regained the lead. He pulled away slightly deep in the homestretch for an official winning margin of a length in a time of 31.29 seconds for the 5-16 mile.

In that homestretch, said Hess, I knew he was going to win.

JD Dignity had to settle for second, but was three lengths clear of AJs Callie (Jackson Greyhounds L.L.C.), who was the 2015 Iowa Breeders Cup winner at IGP.

Running for the final positions came O Ya Spunky (Wayne R. Ward Inc.); Cardiac Kid (Copper Kettle) and JTs Metallica (T And T). Superior Rawlins suffered an injury and trailed.

For the patrons DS Rumba paid $9.40, $4.60 and $3.20. JD Dignity paid $10.20 and $6.00. AJs Callie paid $5.60.

The 1-3 quiniela paid $34.40. The 1-3-6 tri-box paid $156.00. The 1-3-6-5 .10 superfecta paid $56.37. The $1 pick 3 (1-6-1) paid $99.30.

GREYHOUND NEWS
Back to News WAR BUCKS WINS MAIDEN DEBUT
Tuesday, May 17, 2016
DUBUQUE, Iowa The second day of the 2016 season, Sunday, May 15, at the Iowa Greyhound Park mirrored opening day. IGP General Manager Brian Carpenter was delighted to report another packed grandstand.

On the track, the Xtrem Hess Racing L.L.C. Kennel came up a winner in the feature stakes race. After DS Rumba won Saturdays Inaugural Strakes, XTs War Bucks captured the Maiden Debut Stakes.

I can get used to doing this, said trainer Brad Hess with a chuckle about the post-race interview.

Just a step behind ATs Blue Frog (T And T) out of the boxes, XTs War Bucks quickly took the lead and never let go.

We have high hopes for him, said Hess.

XTs War Bucks is a 75-pounder born Oct. 9, 2014 out of the impressive Iruska All Star Gable Karen little.

Thats a pretty good litter, said Hess. There are six in the litter and four or five are tough.

War Bucks was tested throughout the race. As the field rounded the first turn Joe Caputo (Pat Collins & Melissa Schmidt) set up on War Bucks outside and just a length behind. The pair covered the backstretch matching strides.

He did have pressure, said Hess. If the two (Caputo) got by him, he could have beaten War Bucks.

But it was XTs War Bucks who made the move, pulling away a bit from the middle of the far turn on.

At that point, said Hess, I was happy to see he was going to win.

XTs War Bucks won by three and a half lengths in a time of 31.20 seconds for the 5-16 mile course.

Going to the boxes, said Hess, we felt whoever got the lead was going to win.
Joe Caputo settled for second. He was two and a half lengths up on Bocs E Trinket (Boeckenstedt) who rallied from breaking seventh to grab third place.

Jax Penny Lane (Jackson Greyhounds L.L.C.) faded a touch late in finishing fourth. Joes Littlepebble (Copper Kettle) rallied a bit to take fifth.

ATs Blue Frog and Monkey Way (Clayton Black) slipped back after good breaks to finish sixth and seventh. Only seven greyhounds raced as Superior Shark (Superior) was a late scratch.

For the patrons XTs War Bucks paid $9.00, $5.00 and $2.40. Joe Caputo paid $3.40 and $2.40. Bocs E Trinket paid $2.20. The 2-5 quiniela paid $19.20. The 5-2-8 tri-box paid $49.10. The 8-6-A, 8-A-5 and A-6-5 $1 pick 3 paid $20.70. The 5-2-8-7 .10 superfecta paid $18.71.

GREYHOUND NEWS
Back to News COLLINS SHINES IN RD. 2 OP PUP STAKE
Monday, May 23, 2016
All you have to do is look at the results, and then there will be no doubt that the Pat Collins Kennel dominated round 2 of the bestbet Puppy Stakes. Winning 4 of the 8 qualifying races on the card, including the best trip of the evening, they were on fire on Friday night. Clear Lake Racing was the next closest thing as they have the only undefeated greyhound left in the competition. The rest of the races were won by different kennels.

Speaking of that best trip, that came in the last stakes event on the card in the 12th race. There Pat C Outbounds took advantage of the open room ahead of her from the 8 box, as the rest of the field went to the rail, as she rushed to the early lead and left the field in her wake. Sure there was trouble behind her at the first turn, but it really didnt matter. She was going to win, and win big, anyways. She increased her lead throughout and crossed almost 10 lengths better than the rest in 30.42 seconds.

The next best effort for Pat Collins came in the 7th race as Pat C Dashboard gave a similar effort from the same 8 box that Outbounds had. Outrushing all to the front end, Dashboard stole away a couple of lengths on the rest of the field early on. Coasting down the backside and through the far turn, he was never really challenged and breezed all the way to the wire for the easy win in 30.59 seconds, 2 lengths better than the rest.

The Collins winning trend continued in the 10th race as Pat C Zip Code did a number on the field she was running against. Breaking on top from the 1 box, she seized quick command of the race and would never relinquish control. By the first turn she was almost 3 lengths up on the rest and that number increased all the way to the wire. By the far turn she was all alone in the lead and maintained her 4 length margin all the way down the stretch to the finish line. Crossing in 30.91 seconds, she easily dominated the field in a stunning box to wire effort.

The other victory for the Collins kennel came in the 9th race, and although it was the slowest time, it might have been the most impressive of the wins. Pat C Funkie didnt break well, didnt get early control, but didnt give up either. He had to work just to get up into contention at the turn, 3rd place, but that was not where he was going to finish. Down the backside the field lifted off the rail and he found daylight ahead of him. Putting his head down and driving hard, he made up ground and was staking the leader by the far turn. There he ran up the backside of the one in front, and was offstrided back to third. Not giving up, he came again at the frontrunners and picked each and every one of them up before the finish line. Winning by 2 lengths, this effort was special, even if the time was a slower 31.20 seconds.

Js Great Escape is the only surviving undefeated greyhound in the stakes and the Clear Lake kennel is grateful of that. Her strong early rushing style has served her well at bestbet Jacksonville, and it did again in round 2 of the stakes. Blowing by everyone on the way to the turn, she took over command, left some trouble behind her, and raced off down the backside 3 lengths clear of the rest. She pushed the pace to the far turn and turned for home in complete control of the race. She was getting challenged late, but she put her head back down and dug in deep in the final few strides as she refused to surrender as she won by 2 lengths, crossing the line in 30.83 seconds.

Be Limitless started off the card right fo9r the Double J Kennel with a strong front running effort. This girl took over early on, and pushed her small lead at the first turn, to a large lead by the far turn. There she was 6 lengths clear of the rest and was in total control of this race. Down the homestretch she gave up a couple of lengths to the closer in second, but she was never in doubt of winning. Crossing in 31.04 seconds she was just 4 lengths better than anyone else on this occasion.

The final two races were won in similar fashion as Wws Holy Grail in the 2nd and Lee Utah in the 4th both dashed off to big leads, saw those leads diminish as the race went on, but still managed to hold on at the wire to secure the win. One by a nose, in the 2nd, and one by a head, in the 4th, but a win, is a win, is a win, no matter how many lengths it is by.

For the third round the field will be cut in half and just 32 greyhounds will have a chance to move on in the stakes. Join us on Monday evening for the quarter-finals of the 2016 bestbet Puppy Stakes.
