Well done to you for persevering & giving a grey a lovely home, it is a lovely story & I hope you & all the 4 legged friends have many happy years together.
Thanks everyone! Yes, she's just adorable and with the friendliest nature. Every guest is greeted with enthusiasm and she so good with the children as well. She loves to sneak in to their rooms and steal their Teddy-bears:-) And taking long naps on the sofa, of course. She's been such a gift for all of us, both two-and four-legged. It has been interesting to see how she first was so scared of the other dogs, and when she finally melted she has this teasing bark at Elvis when she wants to play, and the first couple of times he didn't understand her and just laid down submissive, but it was just a language issue, and when he understood that she wasn't angry with him or something, it was all just fine. She hasn't met any other dogs yet, so it remains to see how she handles that. We took her to the vet last week and there she saw a horse.. Wasn't too keen on approaching that monster anyway. Our vet has worked with racing greys in Sweden in the past and she really liked her appearance, physically and mentally.

Glad you got sorted. For future reference, we rehome to Sweden & Norway vi EXTERNAL LINK They are not on this forum anymore because the founder Asa Werner passed away a few years ago and they have been unable to access their Greyhound data account.

Congratulations on your first greyhound Morten Styren Jauert! I wish I had seen your post earlier, as I could have suggested a number of contacts from Sweden and Finland where you could have found either a reasonably priced young adult pup or a free pet greyhound without having to travel or import from UK/IE. And because greyhounds are like potato chips and soon you might feel the need for a second (two are always better than one, and 3 and 4 are best) :-) Feel free to email me in the future if this is the case. Almost all greyhounds who race in Scandinavia live inside the house and many coexist well with other pets, thus surely I can help you find one. Adults most of the time are priced, but in reality are free to good homes. As a matter of fact there are a number of breeders who look to rehome some of them after racing and you can easily find one at no cost. I am surprised you had to pay. If you are set on a racing greyhound that is great, but if you wanted a show with part racing blood, there is a friend of mine who has two puppies (males) in Holland primarily show bred/kennel club registered but with a small degree of racing blood. Both boys are brindle and are looking for a permanent loving pet home. They are gorgeous! Do let me know if you are interested and I can connect you to the breeder. She is interested only in a very good homes and the pups are free as such! Greetings and wishing you a lot of fun with your new girl!

Viara - the Danish Animal Organisations recommend that you do NOT give your dog away for free. A standard fee of 190eur is recommended when re-homing a dog.
I find it reasonable that the adopter pays part of the cost of "doing" the dog they adopt.

About the payment, Karin, I totally agree. Its just fair that you have to pay for the dog. We also of course paid for the vaccinations needed to bring her to Norway.
