I have Pishiobury Park near me which is great for walking dogs of all breeds. The people and their dogs are all friendly so it is brilliant place to socialise your greyhound.
Well! yesterday we came across a group of small dog owners that we hadn't met before. We were there at a different time on a Sunday. I have Fonzie (Thesearethedays), Julian (Power Extra) and Ciara. (Ciara's Misty) Both Julian And Fonzie were less than sociable with little dogs (Dangerous)when they first came out of racing kennels.
Ciara has always been good even though she has spent 10 years being kennelled. Mandy who was also with me, is in the process of socialising her greyhound Hawk, (Hawks Wonder) as he too wasn't to keen on other breeds of dog, except greyhounds.
Nowadays though, I trust my greyhounds to show the public and their dogs what a beautiful social and friendly dog the greyhound can really be. I think in this little video, it shows just how far my dogs have come, and are in fact great ambassador's for the sport nowadays.

Well done Bryan - they looked very relaxed with the 'ankle biters' - good work.

Most of them with correct and sensible socialisation will learn to get on with other breeds, often just a question of common sense on both sides - which sadly some small dog owners can be lacking in when faced with a greyhound! Glad to see you have got some sensible ones! Great for everyone to see that harmony can be achieved with perseverence, sometimes some hard work and aforementioned common sense. My recently retired (2 weeks) Leah met several small 'yappies' in her last two outings, showed mild interest, but was easy to distract and wasn't all that fussed over them. She had been used to seeing other breeds at her kennels (and sheep, horses and chickens amongst other animals!) Some will never be entirely happy with other dogs, large and small, as is the case for all dogs, whatever the breed but I guess in the case of greys they would be few and far between. They really are the most adapatable breed going! Well done to you and your retireds!

Great ambassador for greyhounds as pets. Hopefully the dog owners in the video will choose a greyhound for their next pet.
