Michael, this topic was posted to make people more aware of the welfare problems this country has. To try and help educate people and make them think twice about advertising dogs free to good home or for a few pounds.
It was not posted for me to show my knowledge of breeding dogs or to advertise my achievement's, but on that note achievement's speak volumes.
My vision which will never happen would be for greyhound racing to become more like horse racing. Where only the cream were used for breeding giving dogs a much higher value and be better cared for both while racing and in retirement.
Quality not quantity.
a fast bitch break a leg before racing, so with your veiw it should not be bred with,

An idea could be to have breeders do a course in selecting breeding stock, bitch care, whelping, rearing and all other issued related to breeding race dogs (vaccination, parasite control, injuries, housing etc)

The course should be compulsory to anybody that wants to have the pups reg. with the ICC.

Nothing "over the top" just basic training. Could be held at the different tracks.

Well Paddy McHugh thank you very much for sharing with us what we have all already read... As for being " ill informed " you don't seem to know much better if all you can do is copy/paste a text known by all and be rude to others !
Microchipping as been widely done out of Ireland for many years and the fact that the chip might move is more due to a faulty implantation than to the chip itself. Also, insisting to keep our Greyhounds under the commercial goods status is again specific to Ireland and defo against welfare improvement. I'd be happy to get your take on welfare instead of your near racist comments " go back to your country " !! It's not about attacking anybody personnaly, only about how to improve our dogs life from start to finish. Lately there's a big discussion about Irish dogs who have been sent to Macau, this is a major welfare issue and I regret that it seems extremely difficult to have the racing community united against this trade that's in no way sustainable on the long term. What's your position on that Paddy if you have any !?
