Well..............things dont always go to plan!
I had made the decision to put Cindy to Barcia ( had the straw at Sandown, all the paperwork done and ready to go) but she was a bit sneaky and took us by surprise.
I have been watching her like a hawk, aware that a kennel change could spark her coming into season but there has not been a drop of blood and she is always clean and no swelling.
Took her to Sandown to get her thyroid checked etc and lifted her out of the car....................blood on my arm!
Told the girls we better run a prog on her too.
You guessed it - shes been keeping it all to herself and was ready to breed that afternoon!
Panic stations! Not REALLY sure how that cycle had/was progressing so thought it was better not to risk the Barcia straw when everything wasnt exactly text book.
Anita at Sandown was amazing. Ray Borda is an absolute legend to deal with.
Long story short I opted to go with Rupee this time - just not worth risking a very expensive Barcia with no return for this particular cycle.
I am still MORE than happy with Rupee. He was actually my first pick until I happened to come across a Barcia straw. So that can wait till next time.
Rupee was phenomenalon the track, is bred to the hilt, is a stunning dog so well put together and has already had some of the best broods and been used by top breeders so I can't see how he can fail to be a super sire.
I love that Rupee brings in the cross to the US dog KC and he is out of a full sister to Dee Bee ( couldnt get a breeding to him)
The breeding brings in Barcia Bale anyway (SO successful over this Solar Pak line) , two crosses to Bombastic, the magic Hallucinate/Pedro cross, two crosses to Gable Dodge, three to Dutch Bahama, damline to Alice Dooley, sires damline to Placid Dove......

David Brash's HUGLEY respected opinion (Thankyou Dave,)

- "First, the mating doubles US speed influence Gable Dodge 3x5.
But, the power of this mating is that his damsire is Barcia Bale who is powerfully positioned to
impact again with Fernando Bale. As I mentioned, this cross proven to G1 level.
Next, we introduce a 4x5 of Bombastic Shiraz via two daughters and placed to greatly impact.
Rupee's mother is a litter sister to Aston Dee Bee. Many of his best progeny carry a strong
reinforcement of Bombastic Shiraz.
Rupee looks perfect as a potential match in my opinion. "

Exciting times ahead!
Thankyou again to everyone who has taken the time to help me out with these decisions.

LOL Jack! I was thinking exactly the same thing!! Things happen for a reason and your advice to not use the Barcia straw on a maiden bitch was sound advice! I had made the decision that everything would have to be PERFECT with her cycle - normal cycle and prog rise, clear swab, thyroid levels good and I couldnt tick any of those boxes on the day she had to be bred so I couldnt risk it. We were lucky to be able to get hold of Ray ( who was SO helpful) and get a straw to Rupee so quickly so it all fell into place - looks like she was just meant to go to Rupee the whole time! :-D

5 months old, had an emergency cesarean on the queens funeral day, she cost me big time. My profile pic is a blue fawn pup with a blue face, they are shaping up nice.

Aston Rupee was always a great option. Just not as commercial as Barcia Bale like you asked for.

That is one hundred per cent correct Paul and I appreciate your advice all the way thru.Thankyou.
You were spot on and if circumstances had been more ideal I would have gone with Barcia no hesitation - just didn't want to risk twenty odd grand when we hadnt been able to monitor the cycle a hundred per cent.
