Has anyone else had a problem with their dogs in the cold.

My dog won't do his business in th garden as the snow is so deep so I have to walk him round the block.

This morning after about 10 minutes his legs started giving way so i had to get him home with help fro a good neighbour.

Within 5 minutes of getting back in house he seemed ok. I assume that as he is getting on a bit (11) the cold affected him

Simon

Its absolutely baltic here and some of the Broods will lift their legs whilst out, this will be due to the extreme cold on their pads

Some owners on another greyhound forum I visit have had this same problem with their dogs not wanting to 'go' in deep snow because it was uncomfortable to squat. The usual solution seems to be to dig out a small toilet area in the garden, once down to the grass the dogs are happy to go. One owner also 'seeded' the toilet patch with some old poo to give the dog the right idea!

Hope you can keep your old chap warm and comfortable. Even here in London it's jolly cold still and my greyhound has been wearing his fleece housecoat at nights after the central heating goes off.
