Hi Linda, thankyou for your kind words.
We will be keeping the dogs as long as possible.
Bill saw surgeon this morning,he has a cancer in the gullet.
We have to go to Oxford monday when they put radiation into him for a different scan to see how far it's spread, then back to Reading for a ct scan then another camera down his throat under sedation this time.If it has not spread around his body it can be removed with major surgery but part of the stomach will also be removed,if it has spread nothing can be done.
We can manage dogs ok for quite a while and if he does get better we will keep them.
Thankyou again for your kind words.

Hi,
thought i'd let you know how things are.
Well, bill had all the scans, tests and more tests and the cancer does not seem to have spread too far. It's in the gullet and there are a few issues around it that are connected to the cancer one being very close to his windpipe so surgery is out of the question. He is starting chemotherapy and radiation next thursday to shrink the cancer and maybe later insert a stent so he will be able to eat better. He was 11 and a half stone before xmas he is now 8 stone 8 pounds.
If all goes well the dogs will stay with us,as most of you will know i lost Bare 4 weeks ago so there is now only ranger and roundy here.
They are no trouble at all really so things may work out ok.
I'll let you know.
Kathy.
xx

Hi Clare and Linda,
just letting you know that Bill had his first dose of chemotherapy thursday,he was in all day,he has a pump attached to him with more chemo going in until tomorrow,
He is in so much pain with this and taking pills for the sickness.I have to see the doc at hospital tomorrow for stronger pain relief.
It's absolutely awful to see him in so much pain.
The dogs are ok,cannot take them out for walks at the moment, bill can hardly stand wih the pain but they have a big garden so that helps. After tomorrow he has a rest from chemo for three weeks, then more again.
I hope my darling Bare is watching over us,i kiss his picture goodnight every night and i still miss him dreadfully and cry lots.
I'll let you know how things go.

Hi Helen,
thanks for your kind words.
Yes,it was quite sudden with Bare,it's on page three on health topics.
I think only a couple of days before you wrote to say how surprised you were to see him still fighting.
It's almost 6 weeks now and i'm still crying every night for him.I still cannot get to move his bed,it's just as it was when he left that morning.I just can't move it.I wish sometimes i was with him.
Poor bill is not good at all but i hope soon he will be able to start to eat a little,he's so thin.
Thanks again for your kind words.

Hi all,
thought i'd let you know how things are going as i have not been on for a while.
Ranger and Roundy are both ok,doing very well in fact.
Bill had his second lot of chemo last week, still not eating solids but managing to swallow blended foods a little better. He has to go to hospital every day for 5 weeks for radio therapy hoping this will shrink his cancer further to enable him to eat better still.
Life is very hectic at the moment as bill still cannot go out so i'm busy 7 days a week but at least were coping better now and the dogs are now getting more walks.
It's been 11 weeks since i lost Bare now and this weekend i managed to take his bed away which was so upsetting.I'm still crying a lot for him and most nights i cry myself to sleep.Wondering if i'll ever get over losing him as he was a big part of my life.
I'll let you know how things go and i hope you areall keeping well.
Kathy xx

Hi,
have not been on for a while, but i thought you would like to know how things are.
As most of you know we lost Bare in april and Ranger in july.
We only have our Roundy now and she is doing ok.She seems rather depressed at times as i think she misses Bare and Ranger. She used to sleep all day with Bare and play in the garden with Ranger,
At first she was very nervous on her walks but i think she is getting a little better now.
Bill has improved quite a lot.He had four sessions of chemo and 6 weeks of radiotherapy,He has gone up to 10 stone 2 pounds now.He had another camera inserted into his throat again and he is now clear of the cancer all they could see was scarring tissue.Because of this he still cannot eat solids. They are now trying to decide whether to insert a balloon like thing and blow it up to make eating easier,One drawback is that he had so much radiotherapy it could have damaged the lining of his stomach so they may not be able to do this.We are seeing the doc monday at the hospital.
It's been an awful year so far,i still miss Bare so so much and still cry for him, think i always will.Bill gets quite upset about Ranger,he loved him so much.
Thankyou all for ypur support over this year i will let you know how Bill goes on.

Sorry to read about your rather upsetting and not so great 2011.

Glad to hear that Bill is making great progress on the road to recovery.

I'm sure Roundy will adjust as the weeks pass by.

Hoping 2012 is a great year for you and your family.
