In 1991 Italy introduced a no-kill law for strays. They decided that every stray that was rounded up should be should be housed, vaccinated, fed and eventually re-homed.
This decision was obviously made due to pressure from animal rights activists. So who's to blame ???

No, you are absolutely right.
eGn, among others re-homes greyhounds, lurchers and Spanish galgos in Italy. We re-home hounds in need of help that are already in Italy too (the ones that are in these canili lager, or are unwated by their breeders etc.).
We take back the bouncers (some adoptions go wrong) and put them into foster homes until we find another suitable home.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to reassure you about the whereabouts of the greyhounds.
I know how good eGn is and how caring you all are. I have no worries at all about the greyhounds you have rehomed for me. I hope everyone, including Kevin, realises that and does not, for one moment, think the dogs rehomed by eGn in Italy, or anywhere else, are in any danger of finishing up in the Canili Lager Pounds.

thank you for your kind words.
I wanted to reassure everyone because I know how scary it can be to read certain news, be far away without knowing things from personal experience.
The situation in the pounds is very very bad. There are many groups that do all they can to help. We all try to tackle the problem addressing this or that "minor" issue.

Greyhounds have been sent to Italy for many years for re-homing. We have the utmost regard, trust and respect for the re-homing groups. No Greyhound has been sent to a pound. Each dog is collected by its new owner on the day. OK there may be bouncers, then they are placed back on the list for re-homing. EGN does a great job and work tirelessly for our greyhounds, as I have no doubt the other re-homing groups do. These dogs always look great at all the arrivals, and we are lucky that these dogs get such great care from their new owners who travel from far and wide for them.
Hi Francesca, I want to take this opportunity to Thank You and your team and all welfare groups who WORK to rehome dogs. I know firsthand you all do a wonderful job for our four legged friends. I have made great friends with all of the forever owners of the dogs we have sent to their forever home. It's easy to 'Talk the Talk', unfortunately some forget there are those actually working on the ground day in, day out. You should never have to justify the amazing job you do. :)
If you need help or advice about a dog you are retiring then this is the place for you.
