Here is a letter received today by the Greyhound Adoption Program (Vic). We thought the connections of Charlie may like to see how she is doing in her new home.

Dear team at GAP,

Thank you for lending my new owners this lead (I still can't believe they forgot to bring one for me!). I really didn't need it, but it was good to have it just in case.

Also a big thank you for looking after me over the last few months until my new family came to collect me. I have settled in just nicely and I love my new doggy friends and my new humans too :-). They say it's like I've been there all along...

I'm a little bit spoilt - I have a huge backyard to run in, a deck on the back of the house that overlooks the paddocks with the horses, and a perfect spot in the front of the wood heater to sleep at night. I already curl up there with my new friends and we sleep for hours. My new humans have a full wardrobe of doggy rugs for me - different ones for inside and outside, plus I have three beds to choose from outside during the day too - wow, what a life! They tell me when I get better at coming when I'm called, I'll be allowed out for a run in the paddocks when my humans are there on the weekends... I can't wait!!!

Anyway, I'm tired now and ready for a nap so I'll say goodbye.

Thanks again,
Charlie

ps - how clever am I? I learned to type already!!!

Hi Larissa

Thank you for posting the letters received from the happily adopted greys - they make great reading.

As an owner myself (of racing and retired greyhounds) I love to receive news of the boys and girls that we have had to put through GAP - sadly the information is usually scarce and the comment is usually "no news is good news". However, as long as they are as loved and cared for in their adopted home as they were when I owned them, then that is all I can ask for.

Cheers
Madeleine

No problems Madeleine, I'll continue to post them as I receive them :-). I know the adopted homes don't always contact the previous owners, so hopefully by putting up the letters that are sent to us we might be able to give the trainers/owners some feedback on the dogs they gave to us to rehome :-).
