Hello everyone I wonder if you can help me. Can someone tell me what actually happens when a greyhound goes to one of these homes. Someone told me the dogs have to be castrated? Also when a suitable home is found can the previous owner enquire about their welfare perhaps a couple of years on? What happens to greyhounds that are not rehomed, do they stay there indefintely? And how are these homes funded? Thankyou, am new to the site and always been curious. Tania x

Tania,
I believe there are different procedures depending on which country you are in.

You don't show where you are based, or which country you are interested in, so it might help if you could let everyone know.

regards,
Maureen

Hello Maureen, thankyou so much for replying. Well perhaps you can let me know of the procedure worldwide, or at least in the UK where you are based. Tania x

Hello Colin. Forgive me but I resent that implication. I am certainly not ANTI as you put it and on the contrary love the breed and what they are meant to do which is race. Tania x

Tania I think your best bet would be to google greyhound rescue centres and they will almost certainly explain their procedures. I will say that greyhounds here in Ireland have homes found for them before they are transported. I also think that this thread should have been on the Adoption Section.

they are funded on donations etc,and the previous owners if they wish can be contacted etc most organization here will not PTS a greyhound unless it is a real threat to the general public..
cheers
