Hi folks ;-)

I would like to share something of my life with my girl dog Minni - Racing name Minglers Heather. I have her from RGT via our local organisation GACR (Greyhound Adoption Czech Republic).

Please, my English is not well, so be tolerant, please ;-)

I've adopted her on 26.2.2011. She was very very shy and scared. She was scared of noises she maid in a sleep. She was scared of wind...leaves in the wind....of her own shadow on the ground...scared of some objects, scared of loud noises...scared of many many things.

First days was very hard. More for me than for her, i think. Fast breathing, cruising around the flat....

She settled it within a week but still not eatin anything. Only a little bit and water. Ony in the night....never in daylight.

She was like a horse...when scared :-D She is strong, but I was stronger. I decided that is necessary to give her a time and wait when she come to me.

In the meantime I was teaching her how to handle with spiral stairs... She was like Pinochio, like puppet ;-) Took her leg on the first stair..second leg...first first leg on the second stair...third leg on the first stair...and so on....up..up.... And we maid it after two weeks EXTERNAL LINK ;-)

The way down was more difficult for her. But we also made it. It seemed to me that she was happier that she can go up and down herself EXTERNAL LINK .

But she was still...closed to me...any quick movement make her to go down....very scarry was raised hand. Not now anymore ;-)

But she is still scared of men.

Very helpful moments for her were meetings with other dogs. Grey-like or other breeds...even cats. We still meets other people with dogs. We do little dog parties, up to twenty dogs. They can run freely.

She loves running. We have big space there with a lake and sandy shores....it belongs to Autocamping, fenced all around. It has about ten square kilometers.

Then her soul started to bloom...

It was hard to manage it, but I teached her basic obedience. It was hard because misbehaving dog could be corrected but the dog which is do nothing because of his fear...

She do not trust men, but the oter things are completely different...

I met Alexandra, my girlfriend and she had aleso retired greyhound Jack ;-) He is old, calm grandpa ;-) Also nervous sometimes ;-)

Minni got more self confidence with Jack. This is the good thing. The bad one is that she started to scare of thunder as Jack. It was strange but she was not scared of thunder before Jack.

Now we hawe a new member of our pack. It is racing line Whippet puppy named Muffin (Brown Sugar Aerodynamic) He is still bitting the old ones ;-) Minni has more patience than Jack ;-) Minni and Muffin will be very good companions. They runs together. Minni have "running" companion and Muffin have very good and fast chalenge to catch - for future races.

I love her, Jack and Muffin very much, but Minni is my favourite one.

How very nice to hear about a greyhound who now has a lovely new home with a caring owner.
Well done Adam, for being so patient with her.
Good luck with Minni and your new whippet, a delightful breed which I was once very involved with.

You could try writing to the Irish Greyhound Stud Book for a possible contact for Mrs Moore.

The address is:
Davis Road,
Clonmel,
Co. Tipperary,
Rep of Ireland.

If you explain your reason and give them Minni's registered name I am sure they will try and help you.

Thank you a lot Claire ;-) I will try to contact them. I would like to know something about her health, injuries, if there were any. If she need any special treatment. But she does not seem she has any problem. She is vital, very happy when running freely.

She is very decent, nice and clever dog. Jack is opposite from her. He is calm...slow....just old grandpa ;-) He has basic obedience too...but it looks sometimes that he went def....for a while :-D

...but if you have some yummy....he works like clockwork :-D

Minni is completely different dog now...my black beauty ;-)

This video remembered me how much I love her... EXTERNAL LINK ...and tears....do I have to add anything? ;-)

Even if I was frustrated when something went by the way I wanted not to go...so I told myself "You do it for her".

I was frustrated sometimes, not because of I could dislike her...no..I love her so much that I wanted her to be allright...not fearfull, but balanced...

I would like to help more dogs, but in future...maybe. You know, man must be tough, quick, resilient to stress and then is so little space for love, for willing to help to anybody, to anything...in this world. I hope you understand me.

One look into her eyes.... I know she deserves my love. If no one else, she does. I owe it to her.

There is so much sad things in our world an I know very vell I must choose a few things I can change. So I did it.

They are quietly sleeping now, our pack - Minni, Jack and Muffin, after morning walk. Mini is runnig some dream race....funny ;-) Jack snore with hanging tongue...and Muffin also sleep and bark very gently... :-D

There is another video made me sad. And therefore I am happy I could changed Minni's destiny.
