 I know there are lots of greyhound owners out there who are too mean to get their dogs neutered ,they wont even give a donation to the welfare groups ,a small price to pay knowing that the dog is being rehomed to a wonderful retirement.

Over stringent homing requirements? What? A fenced garden is too demanding? Not adopting to homes where the dog will have to sleep outside at night is being picky? What's so stringent about that? It's what you do to make sure the greyhound you took in goes to a home as a pet and not some thing out in the back garden who gets a bit of food thrown out to it once a day. It's too make sure the dog is adopted as a real pet and member of the family.

And yes, there are many who give the dog away without checking. They end up as strays and get pulled out of the pound by adoption programmes. And when they are traced to the last registered owner, that person says "ooooh, I gave that dog away MONTHS ago! Sure he was a real nice man."


The 100 - 150 are sure not to much.
You rescuers over there do amazing work - that has to be said!

but
a garden..
well I don`t even have a garden for myself. I WALK my dogs a few times a day and get some fresh air for me this way as well. No fence.. but a good life with 3 couch potatoes who run when let off lesh where it is safe. Noone should think they are anything else but pets! Id like a garden, but it is absolutely not necessary if someone is at home most of the day and walks his dog/s.

then..
some do rehome only if ALL dogs in the home are neutered.. That is i.e. something I don`t understand and in my opinion overruled.
That all dogs for rehoming get neutered is o.k. and useful. But the rest should be adopters own business.
