A friend has a small problem/quirk with her dog around the same time every night the dog starts runing around like a madman round her backyard and tends to dig it up abit!

They have tried changing his food
Walking him even more to really tire him
Balls off

It seems to me he is running the 3rd at the meadows over and over again day after day in his head LOL

Any advice for our friend!?!?!

Try changing feeding time to the time the dog "does laps" of the yard. Most dogs when let out at a certain time will have a bit of a "run"

Is it a greyhound, David ? We had a kelpie a few years back who used to go stupid as soon as he had eaten red meat.
As Richard said, a lot of dogs love to get let out, especially if they have been inside or locked up most of the day, and just enjoy themselves while they are out. One of our older greys does about 20 spins when he sees food coming.

Yeah it sounds like it, I've suggested they get him a mate to run around with :D

Like i said problem/quirk they are not overly fussed they don't have kids yet and are not garden nazis so it's not a huge problem in the grand scheme of things

Maybe they have possums or cats in the area. Try checking out the near by trees if any to see if there is evidence there is an animal living there.

Is this a retired dog, or a racer?
If the dog has moved to her,
she might find out by asking the former owner?

Only thoughts

There's your answer!

LOL - that's why he does it, nothing quirky or odd about it - it just means he's feeling good - mine do it all the time.

david i had a little bitch that did the same,as soon as she was let out of the back door she went up the garden jumping the flowerpots and tearing up the lawn and round a tree witch was in the middle,we had to relay the lawn every year, but since we lost her i wish she was here to do all that,it was a sight to see, its just that they feel well in themselves so i wouldnt worry
