Lost my wee blue girl today, she had pancreatitis and other probs, was very sick last night and was taken to out of hrs vet this morning,, but she went into toxic shock shortly after and was put to sleep this afternoon. She was just under 10, I got her from here 4 1/2 years ago, RIP Aoife, you will be missed :(

Very sorry to read of this Sharon ; it's so difficult when they go but she's free of pain now and I'm sure she had a great 4 1/2 years with you. The happy memories will comfort you in time.

It was so great for her that she had a home and was cared for. I am sure she would thank you if she could!

Your comments Sharon are what taking a retired greyhound is all about.I have had 31 pet greyhounds and everyone was a credit to the breed. I have three now, but yesterday I was told that my Danny (Hallam Smudger) has cancer. I have sent 28 greyhounds off to meet their maker and it never get's any easier, but just like you I have a wealth of memories. Unless you have taken in a retired greyhound, you will never ever know just what the breed is really like.

hi sharon
i know how you feel as we had our louie put to sleep last tuesday, its the worst feeling having to call the vet, our house is empty without the old boy and coming down and not seeing him, i remember his antics like when he raced from the garden and up the stairs and plonked a hedgegog on the bed making the wife screem and when he pinched toast out of the toaster and pizza out of the half closed oven, ive had 3 greys and all have their different ways, but now the house is empty and i know he had the best of everything and the grandkids miss them, louie was 14 and had trouble getting up and when he could;nt get up for his meals i knew the time had come and when the vet came to put him to sleep with 4 blubbering people saying goodbye and holding him and it doesen;t matter how much people say he had a good life it still makes a big hole in your life, so thanks to louie for all the good times and god bless.

Sorry to hear about Louie also, your right, no matter how many other dogs you may have, or how good a life they have had they are still sadly missed.
He sounds like he was a right character, our Aoife was the same, you needed eyes on the back of your head! She wasnt yet 10 and I thought she would have another few years with us, Im hoping our boy we got in June has many more years, hes only 5 now, and our whippetx is 7 :)
