I will never use these guys ever again, I drop my dog to them he got moved on from foster carer three times in a week, the dog never left my property in 3 years, then that person decided to feed him around other dogs, next day received a call he was put down because he started to fight with another.

Bloody joke.

Are there other rehomers you`d recommend in the same area?

It is of use to support those who do a good job - as rehoming is obviously necessary.

That is terrible for the owners of the small dogs and also for the poor Greyhounds.

These maniacs, tree huggers, lunatic fringe - what ever you want to call them are dangerous - they or similar bleeding hearts want to ban racing, have all greyhounds lying around on couches and god forbid if in a new enviroment they act like any other dog would. Whoever these fruitcakes are they need a new cause. They not only know nothing about greyhounds, but nothing about dogs.full stop. I'd be really pissed if I we're you Mick.If they we're my friend I'd hate to be their enemy.Sorry if these aren't the people who are on Facebook - but I've just been on their site and posted a very subdued response to obvious lies - only to have the post deleted and an e-mail stating I obviously am involved in a blood sport and any further post I make will be banned. So my blood's boiling too Mick - who are these looney's?

Such a shocking incident. We "waited" ages for our dog "ernie" to get in at GAP (Victoria) but was well worth the wait, getting a phone call yesterday (9 months after he was adopted) to hear from the new owners that they LOVE him dearly and how good a dog he is. I dont get why a "re-homed" dog is in need of a muzzle?. If it went through a "proper programe" why would it need to be muzzled? I feel for the owners that the dog attached but also for the owners of the "new pet greyhound" who surely would have been assured that it was "friendly"

Nice to hear a good result Richard - the photo on my posts is a rescue greyhound we took in about a year ago and she is a wonderful house dog.I do feel for the poodles owners but the people who run the web sites lying about how greyhounds are murdered by the thousands in Australia by hammers to the head and hanging are really over the top and need to deal with reality, not fantasy. Any cruelty to a dog is abhorrent and should be prosecuted but so should people who lie to the general public about disposal methods of greyhounds in Australia.

I would like to try an explanation on these hanging storys.
The hunters in Spain breed Galgos, a breed very similar to Greyhounds - and it is wide spread to call them "Greyhounds" in some countrys, instead of calling them Galgos what they actually are.

These Galgos were being traditionally hanged when out of use. This horrific tradition is forbidden now, but as it is with traditions.. not erased jet.

So our WorldWideWeb sees "Greyhound" on the screen connected with these reports but does not recon the differences of breed as the same word is used.
Spread all over the world this indifferent reading constructs these "fantasy" storys.
The "" as this has got nothing to do with fantasy, but with incomplete knowledge of the facts.

This unfortnately will not get the Smallie back to its owners, but might give an idea what fore it is worth talking to each other.

Its is always terrible when any domestic pet gets mauled by another dog.

realy greyhounds walked in publich should probably have a harness on them rather that a collar and lead for a few reasons its eaier to get a hold of them if anything unforseen like harmless annoying small dogs come running out uncontrolled barking or happy to see you, just a as a pit bull, rotweiler, bull terrior or any hunting dog that is ussually very powerful and strong.

i never blame the breeds (except for pitbulls they are very evil and unpredictable) its 100% the owners or handlers fault of all dogs.

i have experience the stupidity of many an owners brainless actions in not contianing their animals by lead or locked away in a yard, where on one occasion i was walking two muzzled 34 & 35kg boys that were keen as mustard and some lunatic had his white poodle and and Havanese in his front yard roaming free while he was washing their car and suprise suprise they decided it was a good idea to run out and bark and go stright towards the big boys, luckily i was quick enough to gather both boys one in each arm under they chest and hold on for dear life as they wrestled to have a piece on poodle pie!
I yelled at the owner who looked at me care free to get his little fellas away and he simply called them back unaware of what may have become of his pride and joy(some people are just unaware)

others let their dogs roam free in public parks and i would always point out that this is a race greyhound not domesticated and have to yell for them to conatin their dog!

the focus never on all owners of domestic animals being responsible with all pets, but realistically greyhounds that are racing, pit bulls, rotweillers, bull terriors or any large and potentially agressive breed have no place in public while other owners can't be trusted to contain their animals for the above reasons, you simply put your greyhounds in the line of fire and invite stupidity of people into your life.

any adoption agency needs to provide more training for any person in receipt of a greyhound and this must all be legislated to ensure it is adhered to! and jennifer this is not the answer to boycott an agency that provides homes for unwanted animals but as i said Legislated and governed as im pretty sure most of them get some form of grant be it from government funds.

Sean, friends of the hounds are ANTI racing, they advertize dogs say they have been saved from death blah blah but in reality they have taken money (rehoming fee) off the owner/trainer, the dog was never going to put down but they will still claim that it was LOL....THAT'S one good reason NOT to give them any dog's .....the elderly couple that had one poodle killed and the other one half skinned alive , now have the problem of a tremdous vet, in trying to save the dog's and it looks like they will have to sell up..guess what Friends of the hound not only never said sorry to the couple but never chipped in to try and help pay the vet bill.abviously NOT caring dog lovers are they..
