Hello Kevin, I'm so sorry to read of your awful experience. How is your Grey now? My Grey Rosie was attacked by another Grey several years ago, (see Bad Attack On My Dog, Pleas Can Anyone Help?), although she healed physically after nine weeks, she is no longer the same confident dog she used to be around other dogs.

it still could have happened while your dog was ON the lead, it was the owner of the out of control dog who was at fault, he needs to take responsibility of his dog as all he is doing is endangering other dogs and giving greyhounds a bad name. Hope your wee dog is alright now...my greyhound couldnt be let off in a park as hes chasey, although walks well with all sizes of dogs
I was walking my greyhound last week all muzzled when a staffie cross terrier ran out of house block the dog ran up the road and rip straight on to my greyhound leg and wouldn't let go ! its the last time I will ever walk my greyhound all muzzled again I need one of them to be able to fight them mongrel dogs !!!!

Unfortunately with race dogs you need to allow for the stupidity of some other dog owners and do your best to keep them away from aggressive dogs. Loose dogs in the street are the biggest hassle when I'm walking my dogs. I've even been attacked as I raised the rolladoor to go into my front yard - the owner of the loose dog just stood on the footpath and screamed as her dog repeatedly lunged at my two muzzled greyhounds while I was doing my best to fend it off while holding two dogs and backed up against the wall of my house. All the while I was (as calmly as I could) asking the owner to please come and get her dog - eventually the dog backed off a bit and she stopped screaming and walked over and put it on the lead and walked off - not even an apology.
Leaving their muzzles off will only make it worse. Some dogs are bred for fighting, greyhounds are definately not!

Had a bit of trouble with my neighbour's [mongrel breed] dog running out and attacking me and my muzzled dogs whilst on the lead, i'd yell out for a bit of help but he just sit there
