Copied from Talking Dogs in IGB website

DO YOU WANT TO GET INVOLVED?
15/01/2014

You have some spare time on your hands and you would like a little role with your local track. Well, we have just the job for you.

Barry Coleman from the IGB has been in touch and he is looking for people associated with the industry in any way to help out in the organisation and promotion of a number of Retired Greyhound Shows at tracks around the country.
Below you can read exactly what Barry is looking for and how you can respond. So, get cracking!

IGB/RGT/IKC/GAIN Retired Greyhound Shows - Jan & Feb 2014

The IGB/RGT/IKC/GAIN intend to schedule 6 to 8 Retired Greyhound Shows over the next number of weeks at various locations throughout Ireland. To ensure that the Shows will have a big entry, be well attended and be well promoted the organisers are now looking for persons (i.e. owners, trainers, members of Track Committees/members of GOBA's/members of Track Supporters Clubs, etc) who feel that, if their location is chosen for a Show, they will be in a position to promote the Show both within and outside of the greyhound industry. The Retired Greyhound Shows can be scheduled to take place at tracks during racing or to coincide with other morning/afternoon events which have already been planned in an area e.g. Greyhound Strolls, Dog Shows, Mini-Festivals, etc.

All Shows will have to be completed by the end of February with all category winners qualifying for the IKC's National Show which will be held at the IKC's National Show Centre in Dublin over St. Patricks weekend.
If you would like a Retired Greyhound Show at your track/at an event in your area and you feel that you have the time to ensure that it will be a huge success then please call Barry Coleman on 061-448001 or email [email protected]

Hi Yvonne,

I just noticed that you had already put up a thread on this topic. Oops!

Is anyone interested in supporting such an event at your local track?

these shows are a good day out but the one problem I have with them is no prizemoney at all maybe im wrong in thinking that and not expecting a lot even a 100 euro to the winners that would cover traveling expenses for the winners and prob get more people interested as their be a few euros to win in the current climate.

I think Kevin its not the monetary gain that people with retired greyhounds seek, but the pleasure they get from showing off their pride and joy to the public. Just showing what a brilliant affectionate dog the greyhound really is when brought into the home environment is enough for me. Especially if I can get a non- greyhound person to take one as a pet because of what he or she has seen at one of these retired greyhound shows.

HUGE TURN-OUT FOR BELFAST RETIRED SHOW
19/02/2014

Barry Coleman reports that there was a huge turnout for the Retired Greyhound Show in Belfast on Sunday with a total of 41 Retired Greyhounds on Show.

We would like to thank all of the owners who turned up to make the Belfast Show the most successful retired greyhound show to date and a special mention to Tara Fitzpatrick for all her promotional and administrative work prior to the Show. It certainly paid off.

The HX Show was held last night while there will be a Retired Greyhound Show at Longford on Monday next with registration at 5.45pm.

Great stuff Yvonne and the pics. show just how organised the shows are and how devoted all are to their retired greyhounds. Well done - your devotion to the greyhound is clear for all to see.
