All I know is that Karen Milling won the senior dog class with Fifi's Whitesox and I will try and get the full results tomorrow.
Fred (Mercury) is upset with me as he reckons he would have won with a blonde female handler with long legs, he said I should have paraded a "Golden Oldie". He can be very hurtful!
All in all it was a great day, Gain had laid on a reception breakfast for all doggie people and they made a great fuss of us, it was just splendid. There were thirty five greyhound finalists, all in the ring at the same time, all scrubbed-up and looking their best and never a spot of bother, no muzzles either. There were lots of trade stands and all breeds of dog were represented, a great atmosphere altogether.
Thanks to Gain and Igb, here's looking forward to next year.

Just a comment about Gortkelly Boss - now called Mouse.
He's not just beautiful. This is a dog who was about to be put down about 18 months ago because he had a racing injury. Although some people might not care if a greyhound has use after racing, Mouse ended up passing the tests to be a therapy dog, and he now goes to care centers and nursing homes and brings a lot of happiness to people who are elderly and ill. Some people can't wait for him to visit, and there was one senior citizen who was terrified of dogs all his life, and finally dared to get over it, all due to Mouse. Large, quiet and with a fabulous nature, he is a real ambassador for greyhounds as pets. Beautiful greyhound, inside and out!
It sure is nice to see so many people turning up with their precious retired greyhounds. We all now how great greyhounds are as pets, we just have to keep spreading the word.

Fab article in the Sporting Press about Mouse and all his achievments and well done to his adopter Orla and hopefully he will pave a path for more greys to be homed on Irish soil.

If I understood correctly, the Great Dane Club have a show at Enniscorthy some time soon and have asked Barry if the Retired Greyhound Club would like to take part, lets all give our support to this event.
