STEWARDS:
Declan Bates, rider of True Self, was suspended for 10 meetings for causing interference to Mirage Dancer near the 650-metre mark. Bates pleaded guilty to shifting in when not sufficiently clear of Mirage Dancer, resulting in that horse being tightened for room between True Self and Raheen House and losing its running.
Bates has opted to start his sanction from Wednesday night, allowing him to ride at the Geelong Cup meeting that night.
What a joke only Bates has action taken against him after melhams mount shifting out then in, interfered with at least 7 horses Simmo including True Self on the home turn. He made no attempt to stop riding it.
People don't realise if a horse gets a knock at the top of the str after already running 2100m, it knocks the shizen outa them and are unlikely to recover which is what happened to most of them.
If Bailey were still steward he wlda got 3 months.

Is that gambling charge hanging over his head Daryl ? I guess they're figuring he'll at least cop 2 yrs anyway, and just let him ride. He's getting away with an awful lot imo in the meantime.
