The news of the tragic loss, of two Aussie Icons of the Baggy Green
Can only be described, as a month like Australia has never ever seen
Many of us, had marvelled at their different talents, in our teens
Giving untold time to boys and girls, to achieve their many dreams

The boy who supposedly had leaden hands, turned out to be so grand
Teamed up with another larrikin. as we cheered them from the stands
A call of "Caught Marsh bowled Lillee, echoed over through the land
As the world's Cricket fans, sought autographs & to shake a hand

Just as Don Bradman had shone brightly with his flashing of the bat
There came a young and determined leg spinner, knocking records flat
When bowling "The Ball Of The Century," we asked, how did he do that
Shane soon became "The King Of Swing', and the larrikin of the chat

While you both journey, on to the big Test up in the sky
Your memories are cherished dearly, with the love that is implied.

R.I.P. Rod and Shane.
