bye bye to to the beagles chances for this year

NRL nightmare for Manly fullback Brett Stewart with injury ending his season
By staff writers
March 25, 2010 The NRL season of Manly fullback Brett Stewart is over after the injury to his left knee was discovered to be worse than first thought.

The 25-year-old was ruled out for the remainder of the Sea Eagles' campaign after surgery on Wednesday.

Stewart had hoped to return by round 20 and the latest blow is a cruel one for both club and player.

"It was a shock to Brett and to the entire club but he is a fighter and he will be back as good as ever," Manly coach Des Hasler said.

Hasler told Stewarts teammates the extent of the injury before training on Thursday morning.

"The operation went well and Brett will make a full recovery but it won't be this season that's certain and we now have to get on with the rest of the season without him," the coach said.

"The players accept that and will respond to the challenge as they did without him last year," Hasler said.
