Lets's face it, Super funds are the reason OZ stocks drop there is absolutely nothing wrong with Oz stocks who do not have exposure to US markets Super funds try to take advantage of "spikes" in the US AND IT'S QUITE OBVIOUS THEY AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH to spot/ predict any OS trends

Bernard the trumpmiester may protect the us economy but at the same time he needs to keep the trading partners on side or else the only market the yanks will have for their products will be domestic, then they would be farked he is treading a really fine line at the moment

sandro, plenty of time to buy banks i think the prices will be much lower this time next year , just listened to a fund manager on livewire this morning , they do not own one bank , said it was unfair for his clients to own them , big call i guess ,
telstra looking like a 3 dollar stock now ,

Hi Mick
Very true if you are looking for large growth
I think they are being battered because of the Royal Commission into their practices, which is not over yet, so yes, they haven't hit a turning point yet
You wouldn't sink all your eggs there but they provide a very good income
For a place to park your money, upwards of 6% fully franked in your SMSF is not a return to be sneezed at
Interest rates will be going up and the associated issues they bring with them will surface, see Peter Costello's warning this morning
However, Banks generate more profit in a high interest environment as margins increase. The way that Banks have been forced to increase their capital reserves, tighten their lending practices over the last few years, with tight LVR's and high serviceability to income ratio's you would think that their potential for bad debts in a downturn will be minimal.
Many of them are offloading their high cost funds management businesses
I think they are in a pretty reasonable financial shape

Most of them are selling off the financial planning arms too as they were only ever there to sell product for them, they are selling the life insurance arms as well as they worked out they cant make money off it. They just sell what doesent work and plough money into what does, I wouldnt worry about the banks, they will be here long after any of the people running the RC. You would be a brave fund manager not to have the banks in the porfolio!
