Not having raced interstate in many years....can someone explain the procedure for giving the all clear after a race?

Here in VIC they scan the place getters in the catching pen before they walk back to the kennel block and the track staff/steward then use a walkie talkie to give the all clear to the other stewards.

It is all done within 30 seconds and you can cash in your winning ticket and have another bet.
So why does it take all the other States 3-5 minutes to get an all clear???? What are they doing that takes so long?

They don't scan them after the race in Qld. The papers are handed back and the all clear is sent.

I think it's the TABs that drag their feet.

So....do they give you your papers in the pen and call All Clear......or do you all walk back to the kennels first?

I'm pretty sure they call all clear via comms of some type as they hand the papers back. The Ipswich handover is right outside the gate to the kennels. Albion Park is some distance from the kennels.
