I didn't notice if anyone else brought this up???

This is, IMO the best thing GRV have proposed in years!

This industry is almost entirely funded my gambling. One of the biggest bug bears of the big punters and the main thing holding back wagering on the Greys is the small holds on the TAB and the unwillingness of the Corporates to take a decent bet (or to just cancel your account or knock you back if you are too successful).

On course bookmakers have always had to take minimum bets. Don't like it?.....You don't get a license to work at those meetings.

It's about time the Corporates were made to play by the same rules as everyone else.

Don't like it? You don't get to produce a market for the dogs.

SIMPLE.

Agree its a good thing if it comes in but I feel Corporates will find loopholes such as banning the account, putting the market to suspended as soon as u try to bet or just not putting up markets on dogs. Their model doesnt like any risk so it its not working they will disappear like on-course bookies.

Some good things to do this however there is one glaring point.

The minimum bet limit (MBL)of $750 for Meadows Saturday and Sandown Thursday is a ridiculous figure.

Metro harness meets are $1000 MBL.

Greyhounds are the number 2 code these days. The MBL needs to be $1000 in line with the harness at the very least.

Would encourage people to send their submissions in and point out this silly amount for city meets.

an update via the GRV website coming in 1August 2018 - I think its at least A start, have heard some weak as piss holds and restrictions of bet size by the corporates & TAB
"Following consultation with Wagering Service Providers (WSP), punters, participants and other stakeholders, GRV will introduce new rules regarding minimum bet limits for GRV-approved WSPs from 1 August 2018.

All approved WSPs will be required to accept a fixed-odds bet at odds that are publicly displayed by the WSP for Victorian greyhound races, according to the limits set out below:

Metropolitan Victorian Greyhound Races In any one Win bet: to lose $750
Non-metropolitan Victorian Greyhound Races In any one Win bet: to lose $500

The rules, which are part of GRVs revised Conditions on Publication and Use of GRV Race Fields, will mean that approved WSPs cannot refuse a fixed-odds bet, close a persons account or lay lesser odds than the displayed odds. The conditions apply to Win bets only and punters who live in Australia.

Various racing authorities across Australia already have minimum bet conditions or are in the process of introducing them, however GRV is the first Australian greyhound racing authority to implement minimum bet conditions for WSPs."

The policy and a full list of conditions and exclusions are available on our Wagering page at www.grv.org.au/wagering/.
