What we need now, more than ever, are National Pools for Para-Mutual betting

Totally agree Sandro and also have the Win and place para-mutual pools updating in real time.

"I have not seen them but media reports indicate that TABCORP is now running ads which claim it returns four times as much to racing as the corporates.

It is impossible to fact check as it involves info from all states/codes/corporates. And much corporate info lies overseas anyway. Good luck with that."

Bruce,

Now is the time to put your investigative journalism talent to use.

How about you do some forensic accounting of the annual financial reports of the various State greyhound authorities?

They should show the income derived annually from the corporate bookmakers, Betfair, and the three totes.

If so, it would show which way betting turnover has trended over the past few years.

My guess is downwards, to use one example... the quaddie pools on Saturday nights at the Meadows. They have steadily declined from $50,000 + to less than $30,000, in that time.

Maybe, the shortfall has been picked up by the corporates and Betfair on their win and place pools?

Maybe, but I suspect not.

As usual, your legion of supporters, plus the other followers carrying knives, will look forward to your response.

Reports from NZ that their Tab may be outsourced to overseas company. Symptoms are identical to here. TAB too slow to begin and now trailing corporates.

Lets hope whatever deal is done that participants get looked after with a decent share of the pot
