Hi everyone, I've been thinking about leasing a bitch for breeding but I'm not to sure about it? I know there is different deals people can agree to but which do you think is the best deal? And can it be very expensive if so would you make your money back?

PETER AS WE ALL KNOW BREEDING NUMBERS ARE DOWN IN UK AND IRELAND AND MY HONEST OPINION IS DONT LEASE A BITCH AT ALL.

PROVEN BROOD BITCHES ARE BEING GIVEN AWAY ON THIS SITE WEEKLY OR SOLD CHEAPLY.

GO FOR ONE OF THEM AND IF YOU BREED A GOOD LITTER YOU HAVE THE MOTHER THERE TO BREED AGAIN, LEASE A BITCH AND PRODUCE A DECENT LITTER AND I WOULD SAY YOUR CHANCES OF LEASING THE BITCH AGAIN WOULD BE SLIM OR A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE,
JUST MY OPINION AND I RESPECT THOSE THE DONT AGREE.

GOOD LUCK WHICHEVER WAY YOU GO

If you do decide to lease get everything in writing and both sign with whatever deal you agree on, most are pup or pups back at 12 weeks with the bitch.

Hi Peter,
if you are thinking about leasing a bitch, don't just go for the first one that comes along, think about what type of greyhound you would like to produce (4 bend, 6 bend etc).
Always try to breed from the best bitch available, not the cheapest or most convenient (same for stud dogs - choose what is best for the bitch not convenient).

What is the best deal ? There is no 'best deal'.. just a deal that both people are happy with.
As Chris said, get everything agreed before you start, to avoid problems later.

Would you make your money back ? Be prepared not to.. but if you get some top class greyhounds you just might make a bit, it all depends upon what you produce.
