It was announced last year the IGB employed a company for over 200,000 euro and a follow up of over 90,000 a year to create software or something so that they could track all Irish bred dogs from 12 weeks old to their passing.
Could someone please tell me when the Greyhound-Data team are looking up dogs on the IGB website to confirm ownership we are now seeing owner as "G.B.G.B." or "Homed as a Pet".
If this is tracking dogs throughout their lives than I am the Pope.
What a joke.
I really hope there is a reason for this and I am just making a mistake or misunderstanding something. Can someone please enlighten me.

Thanks Stephen, I did not realise that. Do you know anything about "Homed as a pet"?
On GD we need to know which adoption group homed the dog and where possible we try to find the adoptive owner.
Also can you give me a link for the GBGB where I can find the current owner of an Irish bred greyhound?
Thanks again Stephen, its a weekend and I am here trying to answer members emails re ownership changes.

hi tony, homed as a pet must be through their adoption new center, most dogs were homed through the igb went to homes abroad but they are setting up new homing centers i think the first one is up and running in thurles, as for the new gbgb ownership i dont think there is any link to new owner ,it will be on the racecard when dog races but apart from that i am a a loss, sometimes on this site if you put in the name on dog search it will come up with uk owner but i suppose that is only if a member has put it in the data base.

Thanks for you help Stephen. I understand how it works now. The new welfare centres in Ireland sound like a step in the right direction.
Over the years I have done a lot of work with the retired Irish dogs in Germany. The adoption groups there are fantastic and really give their hearts and souls to looking after and homing greyhounds.
