"It is with great sadness that I have to tell you my beloved brother Jimmy died on Thursday evening 21st October. "We received the sad news from Jim's sister Sarah Green today. Jim passed away with Sarah and her daughter Rachel by his side.

Jim was a very important part of the Greyhound-Data team since the website first began 21 years ago. He did an enormous amount of work and he researched and uploaded so many of the old paintings/engravings of the Irish and United Kingdom greyhounds from past centuries, besides entering countless pedigrees. In fact he entered over 132,000 greyhounds onto Greyhound-Data.

His commitment and passion for Greyhound-Data cannot be measured. Whenever any of our members trace their greyhound's family tree and go right back please think of Jim who strived to create "something special" for all future greyhound enthusiasts.

Jim also knew his way around a greyhound, his pride and joy was his greyhound Colums Corner who Won Scottish St. Leger, was a 1978 finalist in the Wembley St. Leger and in 1979 held the track record at Perry Barr over the 650m.

From all at Greyhound-Data our thoughts are with you Sarah and Rachel and all of Jim's family and friends.

RIP Jim you will be sadly missed and always thought of.

A memorial page has been opened on Greyhound-Data for Jim. If you have photos or videos please upload them here.

Jimmy requested direct cremation. So we will have a ceremony when his ashes are interred in my mother and father's grave.

Jimmy's internment of ashes takes place beginning at 11.25 am at the Vale Crematorium, Butterfield rd, Luton beds. On Friday 12th November. Followed by lunch at the Lilley Arms, Lilley, beds.. 10 mins or so from the crematorium.

Kind regards
