Might be a bit young yet, Steve. His earliest litters were born in March this year, but he has had quite a few bitches since then.

Yes Carole I realise his eldest pups would only be around 6mths. I was just interested in any early thoughts of any breeders on looks in their yards & maybe how many bitches he has served. I received a message from a breeder who used him & is sending some puppy pictures to me to look at . Thanks Ash. We are super keen to use him over this particular bitch who is due on soon Carole even though he is still a 1st season unproven type but we aren't worried about that at all. Everything points to him to be a success at stud if given 1/2 a chance by breeders in my opinion Carole. Anymore replies most welcome.

Steve, I think he has around twenty litters on the ground. It seems he may have had a miss here and there in some of the early matings but numbers have picked up with the later matings. Faun Flame had twelve pups which all have survived and I will be getting a bitch from that litter. Good luck mate , I think with the strength of the dogs in his damline and the obvious speed the dog showed himself I believe that similar to FB he will produce both sprinters and stayers in his offspring. JMO dicksy. Cheers

Thanks for a few numbers Michael. We are extremely excited to have a very nice bitch so well suited to this fella & to be a part of his early crops to gain him some credibility as I truly believe she will throw a decent quality litter to him. I would mention the name of this bitch but I might get into a bit of strife if I mention her name. Needless to say we will be retaining the entire litter.

Good luck with them Steve, dont think you can go wrong. The dogs in his damline were hugely underestimated in my opinion. Cheers

I selected Hard Style Rico as a sire for a friend of mines bitch that he wanted to breed a litter from. There are a few of us in it & we are retaining the whole litter. Served her 3 weeks ago after a few progesterone tests when she was on just to make sure we got her on the optimum day. Her name is Gaerwen Bale. Hoping all goes smoothly & she gets a belly full.

Happy to report Gaerwen Bale just whelped 9 healthy pups to him. 6 bitches & 3 dogs. Mostly all black with a couple of brindles thrown in for good measure. Just ensuring from now on that all the pups including the broodie will be well looked after. Not sure if we are going to part with any yet probably not , but if we do I will make a notification of it. A very fertile sire & bitch. A friend also has a litter by him that are 9mths old & early reports they are very happy with what they see in their rearing yard. I think Rico can make a name for himself at stud even from the limited matings he's had thus far. Deserves more bitches in my opinion. An outstanding super race dog with all the right credentials. Won't be unproven for much longer as that's how they prove themselves you give them a go.

Incredible dog and one of the few that will actually get his chance at stud. He should rack up 100 broods at the same pace as My Redeemer so we will get a good crop to assess. So many top dogs barely used , get the feeling he will be standing at $6,000 in 2023.

He's received broodies, but not as many as he's deserved. All reports are his pups are very nice types and he had way too much ability to not produce at stud. Having that outcross blood could make him even more impressive at stud too

I've got a HSR straw because I'm anticipating good things from him

I've got a 3 month old litter by Hard Style Rico out of Mascot Miss. Very good size and with a fiery nature to boot.

Brilliant win, to run 30 dead at Angle Park is no mean feat

Both Derby and Oaks winners are out of Fabregas females as is Postman Pat

Hard Style Rico x Mascot Miss pup St Rico, trained by Charlie Gatt, wins @ Goulburn Today. Hope the link works.

Of course the one I kept was his sister Batgirl, who ran 4th.

Just an update. the Gaerwen Bale litter all finished their educations with glowing reports , not far off starting their careers , hopefully with immediate success. Real nice black male youngster showing great promise. fingers xcossed.

I know a little bit about this litter. From day 1 they have been regarded as/expected to be quite talented chasers

Hard Style Rico son Scillachi has been selected for the Group 1 Topgun next Saturday night at The Meadows. Some of the names not selected gives a good indication on just how promising/talented Scillachi is to gain selection ahead of them

Yeah Matt a bit of homework was done sorting out what particular sire to put over this royally bred bitch & hopefully we have nailed down a real compatible mating to produce some quality chasers. They have been given the best opportunity since whelping & are in the best of hands. so with a bit of good management this litter could be a real nice $ spinner so we can maybe breed another litter from her in the future but thats not my decision I just do the bloodline work. All the best.
