He has quietly gone about his work probably not getting the recognition of a lot of the other stars, simply because we have been so blessed with the amount of talent in racing the past few years.

He has raced against and beaten many superstars of the track who we all know too well. Dogs such as Tommy Shelby, Hard style rico, Shima Shine, the late Simon Told Helen, Christo Bale, Jax Bale, Yozo Bale, Jim Zara Dashian, Avalanche, Faiths Bale, Wow and Ferdinand Boy.

He has had to race against some of the fastest dogs this country has ever seen over his career, so to put together a 50% win rate, to me is a feat in itself. It spells stud dog.

His bloodlines are also well set up for success at stud. Being by Dyna double one obviously means his barcia lines will carry him through. He carries hallucinate through his sire line, Dyna Double one, and also Pure octane as his grand dam sire, meaning he is going to be screaming out for bitches that carry wheres pedro in a prominent position. Any bitches with Brett Lee up close in their pedigree I believe will do very well to him also.

Fernando bale bitches I believe will also suit to an absolute tee. In fact, I believe a large number of outcross bitches with little, to no barcia blood will suit him to a tee.
I know the plethora of stud dogs available to the Australian racing industry, but this guy surely has to get his turn. With barcia as his 2nd generational sire, it just goes to show, barcias presence is going to be prominent for generations to come. And they dont come much more consistent than this guy.

I have 2 litters to Tiggerlong Tonk. The older litter is 6 months old and have a great nature. I hope his ability shines through in his offspring. They seem very keen on the toys and squeakers and have lovely personality.

I cant work out why more arent going to him considering his credentials mention above and outstanding career. I cant see why a dog of his ability wont through quality offspring. If anyone knows why he isnt getting as many bitches lining up or why some have reservations please comment here

Plenty of good genes in there to breed a good dog. But, I suspect its the same reason, nobody was initially interested in Zambora Brockie (Nitro Burst, over Flying Stanley, over Trendy Leigh) to start with. Too fixated on average sires throughout the pedigree. Still blows my mind on the lack of interest at stud saw Brockie put back on the track over 400m at Gawler, at 5 YEARS OF AGE! It sure can take time to change peoples minds on sires - just ask Gun Law Osti, the sire of Brett Lee!

Then when Zambora Brockie started to throw some fast dogs - Brockie matches up with my bitch and cant wait to use him blah blah blah. Breeders and buyers are as bad as each other - they both fuel the never had a good dog narrative and cycle! How many still havent had success with Brockie? Remember even the GOATS have 80% dud offspring! Were all trying to get the 20% of each sires best results.

On Tonks breeding,

Look at Respectability, by another non-commercial sire!! You could start with having Bombastic Shiraz in your dam line.

Zipping Maserati, shows Bombastic Shiraz through Bit Chili and then you look at both Maserati and Start Packing and both have Surf Lorian crossed with Big Daddy Cool. Big Daddy Cool and Bearability are dominant to New Tears. As can be seen again in Dr. Tucker with the same Big Daddy Cool - Surf Lorian cross. Even look at the likes of Deadly Vane, Clonakilty Man and Flash Drive.

So, anyone looking to breed to Tiggerlong Tonk, not a bad place to start with the above and then youve still got the power of Elusive Rebel to tie into a mating. Why all sires can produce top class dogs. They were great dogs on the racetrack, just need to get the best out of the lines of your brood, to choose the right sire.

If you look at Brockie and Tonk, they were very similar racers in that they were as tough as nails come that first turn and put themselves in great position to compete for the win.

N.B Im not so much advocating for Tonk, more showing its ALL about correct sire choice, to give yourself the best chance of success. If Tonk matches your brood, why not use him?

Massive fan of this dog and what he achieved. I was always willing to use him but I've dropped out of breeding and the sport in general.
I remember being in the catching pen at Warrnambool and TT was definitely the alpha male in there. Huge prey drive
I don't think I'd use him on an aggressive bitch but I would most definitely recommend him for a brood with a relaxed nature.

Thanks for that. I suspect the below average use of him as a sire so far is more based on his pedigree then on his personal achievements. I guess time will only tell, his Dam line is super. I have faith in him (I guess I wouldn't have used him if id didn't haha) that he will produce some skilled pups. Like I said, I guess time will only tell.
