Jack,

A lot of people buy from Facebook ( old name ),& some buy direct from breeders...the old saying mate," not what you know,it's who you know".

I have said this before,& I'm sure it will ruffle feathers, but there should be a fee for selling any Dogs/ Pups.

We pay for Testmatings, which contributes to Greyhound Data remaining viable,so why not selling ?

I know that Membership entitles us to certain " perks ",but I'm sure a flat fee of a lousy $10 to " Advertise" a Performed dog,Sapling,Broodbitch or Pup,until its sold or removed from the classifies, would not send sellers broke,( if it concerns them that much, they could just " tack on an extra $50 on the " Advertised price ),if whole litters are being sold,a flat fee for whatever size litter could be set a $50.

After all,the seller generally makes plenty of profit from " ADVERTISING " on Greyhound Data,& it would be all going back into this wonderful Greyhound platform, which is invaluable to all involved in the industry.

Like I said Jack,my opinion will be sure to " ruffle the feathers",but that's my honest opinion mate.

Jack, after many years out of the industry & making a re-entry a few years ago, nothing has changed. The really good stuff is not and doesn't need to be advertised. People breed for themselves, keep " the picks", sell the rest. You may get lucky, but nine times out of ten the breeders get it right. When you see litter of 8, 2 dogs 1 bitch already sold, your copping the dregs. The sold ones are really " kept ones". Just recently bought a bitch from QLD, was first purchaser, promised biggest bitch. Sprung my Queenslander brother on them, still didn't get biggest bitch, but didn't get the runt they were going to send to NSW..... The narks will say i'm wrong, but i have bred litters, and observing pups, 9 times out of 10 you can rate them. Look at all advs, you will see what i mean. It's just human nature.

So many myths and finding reasons for why it never happens for me. Ive had some good ones and theyve all been the leftovers from the litter!!

MLadys Fool and City Of Sydney were the last left in the litter. Which suited me fine. As I wanted fawns.

Frieda Las Vegas was the very last pup left for sale. Couldnt sell her and got to 6 months of age and ended up keeping her!

Same again, with Merchant Navy, the very last pup and ended up keeping him.

Picking pups at 3 months of agegood luck!!

After selling most of the litter, part owner Eric Tedford was left with two pups, Flying Amy and Bounding Andy. Tedford reared the pups on his property at Toowoomba, like plenty before them they had the free run of the farm. They galloped to their heart's content in open paddocks by day, and were locked up and fed by night. They developed beautifully in their tender months receiving a great deal of individual care and attention, from Tedford and his wife Phyllis.

Suspect Flying Amy wasnt wanted, because she was undershot?

Yes Dixie ,they should be honest like me and have two of the leading products in the greyhound business. Our products sell them selves. We really are having trouble meeting demand world wide.Every year we are increasing sales by 10/12%..
Check out our web site..

The litter whelped on the 5th of January 1999, consisted of three dogs and three bitches. Brett Lee's brothers and sisters were the smart race dog Trendy Leigh, plus Commander Ben, Supa Lee, Shotgun Sal and Supa San. Amazingly besides Trendy Leigh only Shotgun Sal raced, and she had one start at Shepparton.

Bonsar advertised the pups for $6000 each and had a few takers, but one little black dog due to fact he had no testicles was left behind. Richard Kurkowski had raced a number of dogs with limited success, some city winners, but like most of us was in search of that elusive champion. He was interested in a pup from the litter and had a look at them where they were being reared at Kelvin Iles' in Devon Meadows.

I was wrapped in the breeding but couldn't afford the six grand. When they were nine months old and after another inquiry Stan offered me the little pup with no testacies for three thousand. I was very interested but a little worried, so I called Graeme Bate, he assured me he had trained dogs in a similar condition with no problems at all. I also checked with Peter Dapiran who gave me the go ahead as well. I knew he had successfully trained the very smart Fraud who also had the same condition. So, I bought the pup, and it turned out to be the best decision of my life Kurkowski said.

Miram miss was a champion stayer in the late 60s and early 70s she only weighed 53lb about 24kg. She was the runt of the litter but a great racer.
