I think he will work well with bitches who have strong 600+ m in their lines.

Exciting times ahead.

Grv says oldest pups coming up to 16 months old

1st litter, 4 pups
2nd litter, 12 months old doesnt say anything ?
3rd litter, 5 pups

Good luck to all , some astute breeders in his list and cant say he isnt delivering in homeland

Im gunna say he wont make it here , if he does hell be the first since premier fantasy

Ive been told the droopy lines sent Poeple broke here in aust ?

Nathan, maybe he will fail, but time will tell.
The big difference is this bloke is far, far superior in his homeland to any other Irish dog weve had access to so on that basis, I think he will go better here than they did.
The previous Droopys sires werent a patch on this bloke, and as you say, look at whos brought straws out, its a damn good recommendation imo and the people whove bought DS pups here are the whos who of greyhound racing.
With the dominance of Fernando and Barcia, we probably all should hope one of this dogs pups ends up a star.

Yeh itll be good to watch Scott , love Poeple who go out on a limb and have a go !

Get the popcorn and see what happens .

Only been in the game a short time , but Ive seen Paradise Madison , Makeshift , Taylors sky , Skywalker puma .. all handy dogs , result to nothing bud .

I have it as aust produces runners , America a point of difference or lines to breathe , and Irish as great brood lines .

Come Xmas we will see and wish yous luck ! Very brave !

Thanks Nathan, I know they dont run on looks, but if it counts for anything at all, these pups are absolute stunners.
With our girls, there are more than enough precedents that suggest the cross will work but again, the clock counts so until then, we cross our fingers.
Weve got 1 straw left and have had connections of some of the very, very best bitches to race in recent years contact us but we didnt but them to sell so I bloody hope your wrong about him hahaha

They've gone back to the well and used this fella. Maybe Taylor's Sky didn't gel with his line. Outcrossing is a risky game.

So is breeding ourselves into a corner, but I guess all breeding is.
I cant see the names involved in using Sydney and buying pups ALL being wrong, though.
People really only need talk to the Irish, check his stats and weekly results and theyll see he is different heavy to any stud dog from Ireland weve accessed here in Oz.
Yes, we tend to think Aussie dogs are the best around but we also forget where they all started.

Good point SJ & so True... There was never any doubt The Breed was only heading one way.... DS is a Breath of Fresh Air & it is uncommon especially in Ireland that so many Breeders agree that the Dig is a Phenomenon @ Stud.
I would also advise Aussie Breeders too Consider Pestana & Ballymac Bolger as their cross is something that I see working with DS & the terrific Early Gears they pass on too their offspring is exciting.

Hi Steven,
Most Aussies really wouldnt understand what a phenomenon the dog is and thats fair enough, hes really only hit the heights this past few years but with very good reason.
Malachi is another I reckon could be a ripper.
His early stock are flying.
We will have Pestana stews available here in Oz pretty soon, I believe.

I've been keeping my eye on DS's first Aussie litter and he hasn't clicked with the first bitch. Obviously early days and it's only a 4 pup litter.

Surely we all know by now that there is no breeding theory that works consistently. If there was we would all be doing the same thing. We wouldnt need to ask opinions on this site , DB would be out of a job and we wouldnt need to spend hours doing testmatings. PAW could afford to use whatever sire he wished and wasnt always looking for results in the first cross as Ive mentioned before. Taylors Sky wasnt a bad dog but you can go right back to rare pleasure( name says it all) on his bottom line and wont find many consistent producing broods. The sire lines used in his pedigree where a whos who of the Irish dogs and maybe thats why PAW continued to use him over his already established females. In early 2000s a friend of mine used an Irish dog called Tim's Crow on Bay Goddess as well as Astrigal Girl. The Bay Goddess litter produced a bitch called Ferly Gain who was trained by Darren McDonald. The mating on paper looked boring and sad , but he got what he wanted. Ferly did have a couple of handy ones when she went to the barn by Brett Lee and BS but the line is possibly gone by now. Sydney like all sires will click with some and not with others and may even produce a champion here in Australia and possibly with the least likely female. Only the greyhound gods will know with who and when and congratulations to the lucky owners. Unfortunately due to the cost of living and the variations in finances , not everyone can afford to use the sire that they would like and thats life, just the same as buying a car or anything else. I still think we need to concentrate and put our thoughts into the rehoming issues in this country as a priority. I know its been discussed but we really need an outcome. Thoroughbreds are pouring heaps into rehoming and I understand its easier for them as the horse can go on to dressage , show jumping and sporting arenas for quite a few years after racing. But there not sitting on their hands. We need to push harder, not just for ourselves but our children and grandchildren and the future of this great sport in Australia. Cheers

The better you know pedigree Michael, the better chance you have of success. Your mention of Ferly Gain, is anything but a boring pedigree!

I guess, the biggest test of a pedigree student is to consistently breed for themselves and get results. Then and only then will you really know your knowledge base. Through your hip pocket!

Getting off topic here, but as quickly as the Feirly Gain line shone, it was gone within a generation. Just goes to show how fickle the breeding game can be.

Hey Darren , I do agree and I do know my pedigrees. What I meant was there wasnt the usual nicks or the 18.8% theory or other theories that are thrown up. Believe me the pedigree was looked at and we knew what existed , but regardless of pedigree it was about early speed. But it is still a gamble and my mate agreed at the time. Tims Crow was a very fast dog. It was the speed he was trying to inject and thats what he got. A good gamble/roll of the dice. As Dixie mentioned it didnt take long to disappear but that may be due to breeder error if you look at her matings. I dont know of too many others that used Tims Crow in Oz. Cheers

Hey Shane , personally I think Id go with Fernando first up and if she produces some classy pups then Sydney would definitely be worth a chance. Hes stats on offspring/top performers is slightly better then Fernandos but I think Id be letting him get a few more litters on the ground here in Oz and see where hes at in twelve months. He has some good bitches so will have no excuse. Hows your Mum and Dad, hope their well. Did they sell Stroud Road. I had some issues with my phone and lost my contacts so when youre talking to the old fella tell him I said Hello and to give me a call as my number is still the same. I miss your Mums pickles and would love to have a chat with Col. Cheers
