I'm chasing more information about a bitch that raced about a decade ago called Our Fusspot. I'm really interested in her racing and breeding careers. Does anyone know more about her, she was beautifully bred?

Thanks in advance

Got to give Scott some credit. A great breeder in Paul Westerveld owned Magical Potion. Bred her 4 times - Bekim Bale, Brett Lee, Velocette and Meticulous. For only the one litter result.

Scott picked the right litter, from the least successful sire Meticulous, just the wrong bitch. Another bitch in the litter was Group class bitch Witch Potion.

At least he had a go at training and breeding. Good on him for trying.

I made one fatal error with that bitch.
She trialled 25.70 at Maitland before racing, then came on season (back when that was a very good run).
I let her have the season, came into full milk so was off for a while.
Got her back, she went 25.60 then came in again-5 months after the initial season.
Vet said he could take her off season, so I went with that.
She went sour and never really was the same bitch, especially with other dogs.
Now I only had her for a few starts and gave up, then a few others who knew her wanted a go and to no avail.
Now Dicks, you can carry on like you normal self but not knowing the facts is something you never allow to get in the way of your BS lol
The litter she had included a dog would was a rocket but broke down just before his career was to start, never raced.
There was also a bitch who, I fortunately, was like a mum-very fast, not so keen.
This was at the very time Baird tried shutting us down, we couldnt sell, transfer or rehome dogs, so I paid for them for app. 18-20 months with no return because they were my responsibility, unlike what most wouldve done, so yeah Paul, I own my failures and dont shy away for them, nor do I blame the sire or anything else.
You, on the other hand, blamed Whiskey Assassin (who you chose) for the failing of the Dicks empire.
Bully for you.
Another cheap attempt at a pot shot from Dicks and then to see Souds inbred relative commenting just tops it all off :)

Whisky Assassin produced one of our best litters. Why would I blame him? A Group 1 finalist and a Group 2 4th along with 3 or 4 really handy dogs.

The Djays Octane (My choice) and Bekim Bale (The bloke who sold us the bitch back said he would buy half the litter if we used him so we went that way) x Two States litters were the nail in our greyhound breeding coffin. Plus the fact I had to move back to Wagga and didn't have the time or facilities to breed.

Paul, so you had factors at play as did I.
Everyone has failed litters-the irony there is I asked Westy what dog to use and he said he didnt give brewing advice out as hed bred more than his share of slow litters.
It happens to everyone.

I had the choice of the 2.
They broke In very similarly, Paul asked which one I wanted.
Our girls kennel name was Fergie so I just went with that lol
This girl really could run but having her taken off season was a mistake Ill never make again.
Ruined her big time.

Mark, I was pretty upset as Id brought some mates in to buy a decent bitch and everything was looking great.
She really was going well til then but lesson learned.

Brace yourselves for an old greyhound "war story".

Reminds me of the time when our bitch had Box 1 in the Gold Coast Futurity of 1994. She came on Season the morning of the final and we were desperate for her to race.

Here we were in the Carpark of the Parklands Greyhound Track (What a fantastic track that was, such a terrible loss BTW) trying to carefully insert a makeshift tampon of sorts. Attempting to reduce the vulva swelling with ice. We got over the board and past the vet. Argh yes the good old, bad old days.

Here she is powering around the corner running a flying 25.55 to win.

Roflmao
My late great Father in law did exactly that with a Bitch that had Box 1 at the old Penrith Track many years ago, she jumped in front and was never in doubt !

There is a theory they go better than ever just before or just as they come on season. I know they can sour after one though.

Argh yes good old dog bum stories, you could write a book. Unfortunately a lot of them are unpublishable due to illegalities or out of common decency.
