I'll give you another example of when a sire is PROVEN. His stud fee goes up, because supply and demand has PROVEN it. He has PROVEN to be a success and he has PROVEN a price rise is justified.
If you don't like the term PROVEN, try shown or demonstrated.
I've seen plenty of sires go up in fee prematurely and studmasters shoot themselves in the foot because the only person that considers them proven is the studmaster, not breeders
Any examples?
I might be dumb, but I'm not dumb enough to name them publically : )

Your words not mine, but it's difficult to argue with your first comment,
If you can't give examples, there was no point bringing it up then. It's a hollow pointless argument.

I think you know exactly what I mean and you're just looking for a bite. So I'll give a example that hasn't price hiked in Worm Burner. Sure he's not everyones favourite but he's consistently outperformed a lot of more pricey sires and has produced a fair few group dogs

And the point youre missing. Proven guarantees you nothing. At the woeful percentages of every sire. Youre going to need to rely on a lot more than proven to get anywhere.
And without being a smart arse Darren , because Im not , Im highly respectful as Dixie knows. Are you saying that Droopys Sydney is proven and thats why youre using him. Im just over (not yours) but all the different principles and concepts around breeding that everyone knows mean nothing. When you look at Fernando Bale is everyone really getting caught up on Kelso Fusileer or do most people go straight to the dam line. Because in all honesty , thats where I go. Just wondering what other peoples thoughts are. I think at least , any sire to be proven has to have the ability to throw certain traits regardless of his sire or dam and these traits should complement the traits of the dam. In this case price, breeding and family would not come into the equation, just their traits. Cheers

You're spot on, it's hard enough finding out an Aussie sires temperament let alone a outcross. Racing traits at least you can look at a sires highlights and get a rough idea

Michael, IMO matching bloodlines is the key to elite performance. I dont use the word proven for that, I use the word knowledge. Im using Droopys Sydney, because the pedigree looks like it should work. DS carries a key ingredient to the success of my bitch. Only time will tell, how correct I am.
Fernando Bale came about from the some of his parts and he adds those pedigree points to his progeny. Kelsos Fusileer, Gable Dodge etc as well, all play their part.
From my experience, you have to look at the entire pedigree. So, its more about does the brood have the required pedigree points to compliment the sire? Not the other way around. Sires arent miracle workers - complimentary traits or not. Thatll be the reason for lower percentages for all sires.

Out of interest have you bred your Zambora Brockie litter yet?

Bugger all to do with you. Please end all nonsensical unwarranted transmissions.
But for those people who's opinions and comments are worth listening and mean something to me. Her sister who was also bred to the same sire has a ZB litter. I reckon that makes it a proven cross, to proven sire from an unproven dam, for what it's worth.

I didn't mean anything by it, was purely interested
They could all be born, unraced, retired and been through gap for all I know/care and I wouldn't think anything less of you because you had a go and sometimes it just doesn't go to plan. Or on the other side of the coin they could all be group dogs and I'd congratulate you on your success. Despite what you believe I don't have anything spiteful about me
But you're keeping it to yourself, hopefully it's because you've got something special and don't want to jinx it
