If we are talking race dogs (which I believe we are), there is no way New Tears, Head Honcho or Pretty Short can be mentioned in the same breath as the 4 listed.

As a person old enough to see all 4 race. Temlee 1st 2940 . Fernando bale 29.42 Brett Lee 2946 Brother fox 29..48. Box draw would make no difference . I feel sorry for those who never saw Temlee race , he was an amazing Greyhound.

Jack, I saw him during the National Derby series, as a child.
My father was a bookmaker at the time so we went to the National Derby Qualies (yes, they had qualies to get into that race back then) to check the form out of the visiting dogs
He was up against Early Copy in his qualie, who was a great Harold Park dog and became a leading sire later on, and flogged him by around 8 lengths in about 30.8 which was either the record or very close to it
He then won his Heat in 31.2 or so, coming from midfield and overcoming a lot of traffic
He then ran 6th in the final to Steelflex and was never out of trouble
What I saw of him was he was not fast early but very strong in the back of the race
I saw all of Brother Fox's career, and in my mind, he had early pace, not as quick as Brett Lee or Fernando Bale, but his mid race speed was phenomenal and he could extend it to 500m
Thats why I put him on top as he the pace to be right behind Fernando and Brett Lee and could sustain it and if temlee got a sniff he could blouse them all
Anyway that's my opinion based on what I have seen
The main thing is that we remember them as CHAMPIONS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT

Pss. As good as Geoff is , I have predicted 2 races on this forum . Its a roo , for his first city win at over odds and Simply limelight in the Easter egg .
At present between Biffs sports results book and my expertise over the top , Im probably correct thus far .

Pfft New Tears and Pretty Short. You are kidding. If you want a reserve put Black Top in.
Paul, as it is all hypothetical, if we are going to "roll back the clock" (eras and such), and speak about reserves, perhaps Cheif Havoc get's a look in if people are using track records as a criteria.
Totally unrealistic fantasy trying to pick a winner out of that, way to many variables! First of all being a 4 Dog race,I could take Temlee out of the race, chuck a dog in like Dyna Double One,who will never be remembered as Highly as the other 4. But if he jumped well, bit of trouble on first corner, happens all the time, then gets the sit on Fernando Bale,do you think he might be able to edge past Fernando Bale over 520 at Albion? No way he could run down the Great Fernando Bale and win,or could he,haha! Make it a 8 Dog field,it's different again, but with those 4 dogs Fernando Bale or Brett Lee would lead, would they get around the corner clean,or stuff each other up,and 1 of the other 2 have to run them down, either way,I think FB and BL would be motoring out in front, bumping along the way, with Temlee lining them both up from behind, and nailing the both of them, but anyone of them could win.The other 3 wouldn't be as good as they were without Temlee's blood in them anyway!!

It's like comparing great tennis players or golfers or footy players or athletes from different eras. It's impossible, it's very subjective. All I know is, is that I'm 100% right in my opinion ;-)

I asked Chat GPT the following question - Who would win a greyhound race between, Brother Fox/Temlee/Fernando Bale/Brett Lee? It answered the following way, it was very non committal. I found the last paragraph the most interesting.
As of my last update in September 2021, who would win a greyhound race between, Brother Fox/Temlee/Fernando Bale/Brett Lee are all well-known greyhounds with impressive racing records. However, determining the winner of a hypothetical race between them is challenging as there are numerous factors that can influence the outcome of a greyhound race, such as age, health, form, track conditions, and more.
Additionally, individual greyhounds can perform differently on different tracks and distances. Without specific information on the current condition and form of these greyhounds, it is impossible to predict the winner of such a race accurately.
It's worth noting that greyhound racing can be a controversial topic due to ethical concerns, and it is banned in some regions. If you're interested in greyhound racing, please ensure you are informed about the welfare and ethical aspects of the sport.
