i looked a mating with similar percentages as his. its not really a theory ive looked into much but im guessing there has been some top class hounds bred that way

If you study many dogs with 3x4 breeding it works out 18.8% many champions have this combination.

Peter there's nothing about it because there's nothing to it, other than 18.8% appearing in the blood quota table of some successful dogs.

18.8% theory is like the majority of "theories". If you want to see them bad enough, you'll find examples. Likewise for every one of those examples proving your point, there are dozens of under performing dogs with exactly the same 18.8%.

Yes, correct. But the % matters. Double cross on the 4th remove at say 12.5% has little impact.

Pfft, of course it does. I'll find as many champions with 4 x 4 crosses as you can find 18.8% theory bred champion dogs.

I put up a topic best 3x3 crosses typical of some on here people put up great examples, then there were others who put up 3x4 and 4x 4 .you have to love them. Check it out. Best breeding posts on GD.
As far as I know the theory comes from breeding thoroughbred horses. Federico tessio came up with it in Italy in the 1920's
