I need the following information for the data-base:
Name Location Fees Contact Details Type of Rearing - Open/Pens/Acreage etc. Experience
If these details can be forwarded to my email address [email protected] best regards Allan
If anyone has any other categories they would like included in the data base let me know. I will also add capacity i.e. how many pups are reared at any one time.
Allan i wonder if a video of each place could be attached and their method of rearing dont know if this is possible it would simplify peoples choice if they couldent get to see them
Tom I am sure that someone on her has the technical know how to answer that question. It would certainly be a very useful addition. Can you email me with your rearing details, fees etc.
Thanks very much for the recommendation - we do our best.
The maximum number of pups we rear for others is 5 and we never advertise, we rely on personal recommendation.
We also breed and rear our own pups but are not breeding any more for the moment.
We have 3 puppy runs and 4 longish runs with a gate at the bottom of each and a big field at the end of the runs. Each long run houses a maximum of 3 pups and they all get an hour or so in the big field every day - yes, we do take the time to do that!
Matt (my son) is a trainer so I do the resters and pups with help at nail clipping and worming time!
We very rarely have a nervous pup because all the pups are handled daily (I have the scars to prove it...)
Only having a small amount of pups makes it easier (in my opinion) to spot any problems because you soon get to know the personality of each pup.
We may not have reared any Derby winners (yet) but take pride in the fact that all the pups that come to us get the very best start we can give them.
Thanks for getting back to me. The directory is really for those owners looking for somewhere to rear their pups so I will remove you from the directory if that is OK.
yes ill send them to you and my web site can take videos no problem as some of racing already on it in both the sires page and under the breeding success page so any of the rears who want to add a video its no problem
Having received some very positive feedback on quality rearers in Irealnd and the UK I am now in a position to pass on this information to owners looking for a quality rearing establishment. I will offer honest advice based on the information received with further information i.e. fees etc. It is hoped to have this information on a web-site in the near future. This information is purely for the benefit of owners looking to locate the best rearing for their pups. All negotiations are between owner and rearer. I have an advert under miscellaneous adverts if anyone wants their pups - Coursing and Track reared by the best available.
If anyone else has comments both positive and negative about their experiences having pups reared in Ireland and the UK please email me at [email protected] All information is in the strictest confidence. The greater the feedback the more information I will be able to give to owners who are seeking someone to rear their pups. If there are any further nominations for rearing establishments please let me have them as soon as possible. Allan
I would like to recommend Sarah and Ken Duce of Elbony Kennels. I had a lot of trouble with a litter of pups a couple of months again , and only for the advice and help that i got from Sarah and Ken i would,nt like to think of what might of happened.I had contact with Sarah daily and with the help from herself and ken the pups are all flying. Based in Kilmallock, County Limerick .
Why just whelping? They (Ken and Sarah) rear too and are very very good at it - they rear virtually all of ours and we have always been delighted with the way they have turned out.
