Can any of our American counterparts give me an idea where this dog rated in your racing scene? I've read things saying he was initially a free service but has sired a couple of handy ones such as Kiowa Myth. What have his pups been like over there and what are they like typically, calm? over the top? quick early?

Any information would be great.

Thanks

Despite the huge success of Kiowa Myth Dragon Fire has not been the huge success everyone hoped for, he was a very fast son of Brett Lee, but maybe because of marketing stratorgies Trent Lee and Super Lee have been more successful as studs here in the States, I am sure Kiowa Myth's success has lead to Dragon Fire being used a bit more but at the moment the jury is out on the latest crop.

A local friend of mine has a Dragon Fire broken in youngster, I haven't heard any news about it but will be asking her this week how it is going. I remember seeing the pup when it was about 6 months old and it sure looked a nice type, chasing a drag lure up the straight.

I would think he would match up with KST or Flying Penske bitches as that seems to be part of the nick that makes the KST x Flying Penske cross so successful. Combined with Brett Lee sireline seemed to give him a few options. Interesting.

Thanks

I would disagree with Mark on a few points.

I think Trent Lee has been the more successful Brett Lee son because he got a much earlier start, and after his first wave of pups were pretty decent, breeders went back for more. Trent Lee has a number of pretty good dogs, but no real superstars yet. He's got five times the number of pups running as Dragon Fire.

I think that until Dragon Fire gets more pups to the track, it's still too early to say he's the less successful sire. I'm not convinced that Super Lee has been especially successful. He hasn't produced anything comparable to Dragon Fire's best pups from similar numbers.

I'm told breedings are down almost 50% in the US and that only a handfull of dogs are getting the bitches. In that case would it be almost impossible these days to get a young dog started over there?

That's a pretty accurate assessment, Kieran.

I think Kieran's observations are very apt in the case of Dragon Fire, will he get enough bitches to really put him on the map, Kiowa Myth is a huge plus, so lets hope he gets the breeding he needs to make his mark.

Super Lee had some nice pups running at the Spring Nationals, but nothing of the class of Kiowa Myth who is without doubt the best performing grandson of Brett Lee here in the States

Sorry, was referring to the 'Roosters Spur' x 'Fast N Loose' cross in the nick between KST and Penske, do these brothers cross much in the US similar to our Amerigo Man/Walkabout Sid etc crosses? I see Dragon Fire carries 'Fast N Loose' through his damline and thought it was a good opportunity to use the same successful nick while including Brett Lee for Australian breeders.

Where was this dog in the scheme of things as a racer? Was he considered a strong finisher, quick breaker, what would you say were his best attributes on the track? Is there anywhere to view some of his races for myself?
