As a reflection of magic sprite as a sire he seems to throw them with plenty in the litter, he is well priced, John carutthers is one of the most honest and forthright stud masters i have talked to. Their conformation is second to none and believe me when I say I have had all breeds yet as a dominant sire the temperament of pups is keen and level. Like all pups they need to run but gee your on the front foot when going to him for Many reasons not only his blood

I am not sold on this dog being stud material yet. There are alot of fast dogs like him in more proven races that don't get to stud. His litter were 5th graders. Plenty of Brett lee sons at stud. Superman absolutely proven stud dog, multiple group 1 winner, same stud price ....not used! What are breeders seeing that I'm not?? His damline probably, but it didn't help his litter run too quick. Anyway, time will tell.

It is wrong of you too say that the litter didn't run too quick and that they were all 5th graders IMHO
Apache Leap made a Group 1 Australian Cup final.
Out of 11 pups in the litter there were 4 other Group/city class dogs (see below) and most of the rest won races for their connections.
His litter had plenty of ability, they were sound, were keen enough as most of them raced and won races ranging from TAB class to Group class and many in good times on various tracks.
Granted it wasn't a Hallucinate/Where's Pedro/Crash type litter but a lot better than average and Magic Sprite was an outstanding greyhound in the making.
CLICK HERE CLICK HERE CLICK HERE CLICK HERE Sure he isn't proven as a sire , but nor is Cosmic Rumble and many others that have received plenty of bitches in their first crop.
135 breeders are seeing something in the dog and also in the pups on the ground.
If you think I am biased, you are right. I generally don't buy too many pups these days but I have seen 3 litters by him and they are beautifully conformed dogs with plenty of fire. I ended up buying a pup from one of these litters and also recently mating my bitch too him.
If you can't see any positives for the dog that's fine and no drama at all, you are entitled to your opinion.
But please don't misstate the facts to prove your argument.
As you say, time will tell ;-)

so it's based on an Asumption isn't it...he ran fast time solo or against maidens/5th graders ..there been literally 100's over the years whom could run time or smash lesser opposition BUT were founding wanting when competing against similiar dogs in group races...
Good luck to those whom have used him but he's not 4 me until he's well & truly proven ....I'll also go to superman or even the very much under used Go Forever...
Cheers

That's a fair point.
I like Superman as a sire as well and he is proven, no doubt about it.
I am not disputing that. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.
All I am pointing out is that the facts are misstated and not to bag the dog until he can show what he can produce.
If he is a dud, then he is a dud.
Why didn't people use Trewly Special when the ICW stats were glaring them in the face?? I don't know and it's beyond my comprehension.
Why disn't people use Go Forever?? He was a great dog. Made heaps of Group finals. Comes from a mating that has repeated Group winners in 3 repeat matings i.e. Borat, Trew Millions.
Are these dogs being used at stud? Who knows and if not, why not?
Surely the bloodlines are showing breeders that the line produces consistently, and produces fast and tough dogs.
Most breeders are like sheep, they follow the next big thing so they can sell pups.
Remember Knocka Norris? Where did he end up?
I really respect breeders that go out on a limb and breed to suit their line regardless of hype.

Shane I agree in going out on a limb and picking what you think is best breeding option. I recently went to vee man vane where most people would have gone commercial. Superman is proven, trewly special is proven, where's Pedro is proven, yet my choice of magic sprite was accidental as my original choice was cosmic rumble but I'm a man of principle and if a dog is available fresh AI and marketed as that then honor that statement and don't bullcrap people in saying he is too busy when it's 3rd day of month. Because of that I went to MS haven't looked back couldn't be happier and hopefully cosmics loss is my gAin.

He certainly appears to be throwing alike to himself in looks, the litter advertised in the classies section look exactly like him.
Lovely pups, and no I have no idea who owns them I was just quite shocked (in a good way lol) at the pups when I saw them !

With all due respect Sean. You should get your facts right too. If Rebel Lodge says they're too busy u can guarantee they are too busy mate. I'll bet London to a brick Magic Sprite was a frozen implant not fresh AI & as u say he was pretty quick so either method will get results if it's meant to be.
As far as the litter is concerned. I stand corrected. Apache Leap is the only well performed littermate. Most of the bitches were 5th graders, nothing wrong with that either but that's what they were, and I bet as the breeder they would have been a bit disappointed.
Magic Sprite owned by a studmaster, marketed well, has had every chance to go forward, although at the price I'm sure he got a few ordinary bitches too. As I said I'll wait & see how he goes before I would use him. Either way I'm sure the owner & u shouldn't lose too much sleep in the meantime.
Ps: talking facts: I paraphrase u " believe me I've had every breed" PMSL!!!

I just watched the video and he had pace from the start of his races but boy could he draw a box as well - every run in the video seemed to be off the red box

I searched in all the other sites to my post on M.S... couldn't find it but it went like this...His breeding alone will ensure he gets bitches it is second to none and the damline and sire will also attract his share...very fast talented dog that IMO would have done more except for injury...

You're right Bryan, 5 out of his 11 starts were from the red.
(Wish my stock could get that kind of strike rate drawing the inside!)
No questioning that there was a very big motor under the bonnet though.
