I'd like to know how many develop cancer from treatments such as DMSO and other linaments. There are 2 in my line that I believe developed cancer from DMSO. One was treated for recurring wrist injury and developed osteosarcoma in that wrist and passed away at 6 years of age. His 11 year old sisters are still alive and very well and healthy. My other boy was treated for metatarsel injury with DMSO and developed cancer in the hock joint and passed away young. The remaining littermates have not had any cancer. Just something I often think about when treating my dogs , we all used things we thought were safe even on our kids yet find out years later that they are not safe. |
There's heaps more than that. The original Bone Radiol contained Creosote (coal tar), now it is a banned carcinogen and not in the new formulation. But honestly I think it's probably just as simple as the rampant use of Vitamin B-12/Super B vitamins that promote an existing condition. Is it genetic? Probably. Would as you say the use of DMSO (potential carcinogen versus a confirmed carcinogen like creosote), or as I say the use of B-12/Super-B probably encouraging any mitosis (cells to replicate). Probably also. Heal faster, make cells replicate faster etc. What if one or two of those cells were bad?? They won't replicate faster? Seems simple to me and an ideal way to exacerbate a pre-existing condition. But hey.. we only know what we know at the time. Thanks to medical science, which changes each decade. Eggs bad, Eggs good, eat whites not yolks, avoid whites. etc. Science only knows what it knows based on evolving research. But yeah I think the use of carcinogens for therapy and the use of vitamins that encourage cell replication and regeneration may play a pretty significant part in any study outcomes. No-one wants to regenerate and replicate bad cells giving rise to what we call Cancer. Yet that is precisely a foundation of most training practices. B12 and/or Super B Complex. I wonder also in our supplement crazy world for humans if we don't show similar results over times in humans. Mitosis is just that - cellular replication encouragement and that's what these vitamins do. They don't discriminate as to what cells they encourage to replicate. As a repair/regeneration approach - It works wonderful assuming we're not replicating a genetic defect in the breed. Sadly it will probably only appear long after the dog has finished their very limited racing career relative to their total lifespan.
