Hi all,

We use sand/sawdust runs daily at home and occasionally the race dogs will get a mild case of sand toe.

Does anyone have any advice or tips for best products to use in a foot wash trough to utilise after the dogs finish in the runs to assist in preventing sand toe.

We currently hose off and walk through sally water with condys crystals in the water.

Any help would be appreciated.

Tape the sand Toes with thin strips of tape around the base of the toe nail .

Most times its the left back outside toe that cops a battering .

What Colin said, there's an even better way but I only share that with friends and family. Sorry. ;)

Wash in Tannic Acid and 50 to 1 Iodine foot bath . .

If the sand toe is angry you must clean out with a very soft toothbrush remembering to always go down the toe not up as you softly clean

Once healed use Metho to toughen up the cuticles at the bottom of the nail and the pads .

Always race with thin layer of tape on the Angry toes
