pull them out with your fingers, then wash dog and put a good 'spot on' after coat has dried. Stronghold is probably the best one on the market at the moment.

no mike it is the new dip they use on cattle, you mix 1ml with 1ml of water and run it down the backbone of your dog. within 24 hrs every tick on the dog is dead, it actually sucks them dry. they will fall of by themselves, but initially for some reason it does not kill the once in there ears. but once you remove them they never come back and your dogs become tick vacum cleaners. have had no probs with product as far as harming animal goes as it seems to only spread on skin and doesnt penetrate to blood. but you must use half water or it will burn your dogs skin. i did my pups 5 wks ago without one tick on them yet, they recommend you do them every 4 wks but i am only go to use it when they start getting them again. a couple of people that started using b4 me reckon it will work for about 8-12 wks and they may be right. there is not a product like this on the market it even makes banana spray look like water.

Hi Anne:
We make homemade "Frontline" here with Termidor, Alcohol and distilled H2o. Put 3ml between shoulder blades. You can buy Termidor SC off Ebay. You can also use Imidacioprid 1.47% put 1/2cc between shoulder blades and 1/2cc on base of tail. It is sold as a Tree and Shrub insect repellent. This is the time of year they start coming out in droves. It drives me batty. We also broadcast the perimeter of the farm with Triazicide. We have ZERO fleas on this farm. Hope this helps!
hi anne i had ticks awhile ago and its stoped my dogs preforming i used duromitetex pigon men use it it works but you have to spray it every were in the kennel make shure its a dry day so you can keep the dogs out for a good few hours or move them if you can this stuff has a strong smell use a good bit of water with it cut your grass or any timber or weeds in your garden ticks go on a dogs feet first they pick them up in long grass they can also live in craks in timber or walls for up to 1 year then some heath they hatch there is lots of types of ticks its normaly sheep tiks that greyhounds get . duromitex is cheep to buy 8 0r 9 euro a bottle

Duramitex will cure the problem. Redo the kennels as before. Mix a small amount into a 500ml hand sprayer and everyday after you are finished grooming the dog give him a light spray all over with the duramitex.

John, If he is the only one in your kennel that has them, then the source is close to him, and probably from above. Spray the kennel he is in and ABOVE. Then get a good quality flea and tick collar...they usually last for 3 mths. Once that has expired, put another on, that should be enough time to break the cycle. I had problems here too, got sick of buying and trying different washes and sprays. They ALL now wear tick collars...no more ticks.

I wouldnt recommend using something as flammable and dangerous as paraffin on any dog god can you imagine if he was in close contact with someones discarded cigarette
