Rescue remedy few drops over the tongue before kenneling works a treat on most dogs

Good as Gold helps some dogs, too. What electrolytes are you using, Vanessa ?

Vanessa, try changing to another electrolyte like Vytrate,Lectade, Salka Lite, Aminolite/Aminoforte, as Recharge will make them piddle more than usual. That won't be helping with his hydration.

I have no time for dogs with a bad temprement.
Very hard to cure. They leave theor race in the kennels.

Hi Vanessa.
I too have a bitch that plays up hopelessly in the kennel block on race day. Lasts to about race 4 or 5, then goes hyper biting and chewing everything in sight.
Nothing I have tried so far has worked, except getting her drawn in a race very early on the card.
On the advice of leading vets John Yule and Peter Yore, I'm going to try a homeopathic injection "TONICO". Apparently it has been shown to be successful with 80% of dogs on race day. It comes in 1ml vials and is given IM prior to kennelling.
Contact Peter at Belmont Vet Clinic or John at Calga or racetrack.
As a homeopathic solution it will not swab(their words).
Maybe some other contributors have uased this product and could comment?

Hi vanessa I'd get him used to having a gallop on race day to burn off some nervous energy. Also the yappers used to work really well with an American muzzle on as well . Not sure if this is still allowed, I haven't raced and dogs for about 6 or 7 years . I also used to use a mixture called green for go . It had bi carb in it . Probably can't use that any more either. That's the way I got around it and I was extremely successful at it . Cheers

People, Vanessa's posts are over 8 years old. I don't know whether she even comes on the forum any more.

Amen Carole - and it is not like this topic has been done to death a thousand times over in other and subsequent message threads. It never ceases to amaze me how old threads get resurrected from time to time but I do think that stems from this old bulletin board software and its pretty old school search engine function for topics.

So I don't blame the responders at all, it's caught me out twice over past twelve months. To look for when the post was made look under poster's name and check the year. This is how these things keep cropping up like noxious weeds.
